Our verdict

3.8out of 5

Webflow is one of the strongest choices for design-led marketing sites, and the $25 Premium plan with 20,000 CMS items is good value for a single company site. Agencies should budget for a Workspace plan and seats as well. Indian stores that need UPI and small budgets are better served by Shopify, WooCommerce or Wix.

What is Webflow?

In May 2026 Webflow retired its CMS and Business site plans, merged them into one $25 Premium plan and nudged Basic up to $15 a month on yearly billing. That reshuffle makes one point more important than any feature list: webflow pricing (site plan vs workspace plan) means two separate bills. A site plan pays for hosting, a custom domain and CMS capacity on one live website. A Workspace plan pays for the build side, meaning seats, staging slots, code export and AI credits. A consultant launching one company site can usually live with the free Starter Workspace plus a single paid site plan. An agency juggling twenty client builds pays for both, plus seats.

Webflow pricing: site plan vs workspace plan, laid out side by side

The figures below come from webflow.com/pricing and Webflow's May 2026 help article on simplified plans. Prices are in US dollars, with tax added at checkout.

PlanBill typeYearly billingMonthly billingMain limits
StarterSiteFreeFree2 static pages, 50 CMS items, 1 GB bandwidth, webflow.io address only
BasicSite$15/mo$25/mo300 static pages, 10 GB bandwidth, custom domain, no CMS
PremiumSite$25/mo$39/mo300 static pages, 20,000 CMS items, 40 Collections, 50 GB bandwidth
TeamSite$2,500/moAnnual contract only500 static pages, 100 Collections, 10 seats, 2 locales

GrowthWorkspace$49/moNot listedUnlimited staging sites, site-level roles, publishing permissions, 400 AI credits
FreelancerWorkspace$16/moNot listed10 staging sites, 1 free client seat per site, client payments
AgencyWorkspace$35/moNot listedUnlimited staging sites, 3 free client seats per site

The trap sits in the free Workspace. Starter allows just 2 pages on any site that has no paid site plan yet, so a ten-page build cannot be staged for client review without spending money. You either buy the site plan early or pay for Core while you design. Extra seats add more: a full seat costs $39 a month and a limited (content) seat $15, both on yearly billing, while reviewer seats are free. The yearly toggle saves up to 40% (that figure is the Basic discount), and on Premium the gap is $300 a year against $468 when paid monthly.

Webflow CMS collections limits on Starter, Basic, Premium and Team

Basic has no CMS at all. If the site needs a blog, case studies or a team directory, Premium is the floor. Starter gives you 50 items and 20 CMS collections for experiments, and that is it. Premium raised the ceiling to 20,000 items across 40 Collections, and Webflow removed the paid item add-ons that Business customers once bought. Team keeps the 20,000-item cap but allows 100 Collections, and its column in the comparison table shows 100 fields per Collection, 20 of them reference fields.

What does 20,000 mean in practice? A blog will not fill it for years, but a job board with tens of thousands of listings will. Ecommerce plans carry their own caps: Standard includes 2,000 CMS items and 20 Collections, while Plus and Advanced go up to 10,000 items across 40. Past these numbers, you archive old items as CSV, move to Team, or keep bulk data elsewhere and pull it in through the API.

The Designer, interactions and Localize in daily use

The Designer is Webflow's canvas, and it behaves like a visual front end for real HTML and CSS. You work with classes, flexbox, grid, components and breakpoints rather than dragging boxes onto a free-form page. Designers who already think in CSS get precise layouts; owners with no web background often find the first fortnight hard going.

Interactions handle scroll effects, hover states, page-load animation and timed sequences without writing JavaScript. Localization is sold separately. Localize Essential starts at $9 a month for 1 to 3 locales and 10,000 translated words a month, and Advanced starts at $29 for up to 10 locales and 50,000 words. The price climbs with each added locale, and the comparison table words the caps as per locale.

Webflow AI has been switched on by default in all Workspaces since 15 January 2026, and admins can turn it off under Workspace settings. Credits come with each Workspace plan (200 on Starter, 300 on Core, 400 on Growth), and a 2,000-credit monthly top-up costs $20 a month on yearly billing. Developers also get Webflow Cloud for small apps and an MCP server that assistants such as Google Gemini can use. One older automation tool is gone: Webflow Logic was shut down on 27 June 2025, and Webflow now points users to Zapier or Make instead.

Webflow Ecommerce plans and the India checkout catch

Three store tiers sit on top of the normal site plans. Standard costs $29 a month on yearly billing with 500 products, 3 staff accounts and a 2% Webflow transaction fee. Plus costs $74 with 5,000 products, 10 staff accounts, no transaction fee and unbranded emails. Advanced costs $212 with 15,000 products and 15 staff accounts. Stripe or PayPal processing fees apply on top of all three.

Indian sellers should read the payment help article before buying. Native Webflow Ecommerce checkout supports only Stripe and PayPal, and Webflow's help docs say Stripe does not support application fees in India, so a store based in India must be on Plus or Advanced unless it runs through a US company. The realistic starting price for an Indian D2C brand is therefore $74 a month, and UPI still is not part of the native checkout. Webflow's Razorpay integration page describes payment links, hosted pages and embedded buttons as workarounds, but none gives you a native cart unless you build one on Razorpay's API. A catalogue business that wants UPI and COD is better off on Shopify or WooCommerce.

Webflow price in India: dollar billing, tax and card approvals

The pricing page states that all prices are in USD, and there is no rupee price list or currency switch. You pay with an international debit or credit card, and the bank applies its exchange rate plus any foreign transaction markup. Recurring foreign charges on Indian cards sometimes need fresh approval under RBI e-mandate rules, so yearly billing (one approval, up to 40% cheaper) is the practical choice.

Webflow vs WordPress for small business owners without a developer

WordPress software is free, but a real site still needs hosting, a theme, a backup plugin, security updates and someone who notices when a plugin breaks checkout. In return you get the biggest plugin library, Indian gateways through WooCommerce and freedom to switch hosts. Webflow folds hosting, SSL, CDN delivery and updates into the site plan, so there is nothing to patch. The cost is lock-in. Code export needs a paid Workspace plan (the pricing tables tick Core and Growth) and leaves out CMS content, forms, ecommerce and every locale except the primary one, so leaving Webflow means a rebuild of anything dynamic.

So which is better? For a ten-page brochure site with a blog, run by a founder who wants clean design and zero maintenance, Webflow Premium at $25 is a fair deal. For a content-heavy blog, a store selling over UPI, or a team with a tight rupee budget, WordPress wins on cost and flexibility. Wix is the easier middle ground: its Light plan starts at $17 a month on yearly billing, it connects to Razorpay, and the editor asks far less of a beginner. Framer suits designers coming from Figma; its Basic plan is $10 a month yearly but caps sites at 30 pages and 1,000 CMS items, and an extra editor costs $20 against a $39 Webflow full seat.

Is Webflow good for SEO? What you control without plugins

Search basics are built in. Every static page and CMS template gets fields for title tags, meta descriptions and Open Graph images, and CMS templates can fill them from Collection fields so a hundred posts do not need a hundred manual edits. The sitemap is generated automatically, robots.txt is editable, and 301 redirects live in site settings. Schema needs custom code.

Connecting a domain and fixing a site that will not publish

A custom domain needs a paid site plan first. In Site settings, open Publishing, then Production, and add the domain. Webflow's help article lists an A record for the root pointing to 198.202.211.1, a CNAME for www pointing to cdn.webflow.com and a TXT record on _webflow for one-time verification. Copy the records your own dashboard shows, because older sites may need two A records. Changes usually settle within hours, but can take up to 48.

When changes do not appear after you hit publish, check these in order:

  • In the publish menu, tick the custom domain as well as the webflow.io address.
  • Open status.webflow.com and look at the Publishing and Hosted Websites components.
  • Reload in a private window, because browser and CDN caching can show the old page for a while.
  • On Growth or Agency Workspaces, make sure your role has publishing permission for that site.

Who owns your site, and what Webflow does with your data

Under Webflow's terms you keep ownership of your website content and grant Webflow a licence to host and display it. The same terms put backups on you and call annual plans non-refundable, so test on the free plan first. The privacy policy says personal data may be processed in the United States or other countries, with no India data residency. On AI, Webflow states that it does not use customer data to train generative models and that its model vendors, which include OpenAI and Anthropic, are contractually barred from doing so.

Where Webflow frustrates paying customers

  • Two bills, and seat charges on top, make the real cost hard to predict for teams.
  • Basic includes only 10 GB of bandwidth and no CMS, so most growing sites end up on Premium.
  • Indian stores must start on the $74 Ecommerce Plus plan and still lack native UPI.

A sensible first week before you pay Webflow anything

Open a free account and take the Webflow 101 course on Webflow University; a few evenings covers classes and layout. Clone a free template close to your business type and rebuild one real page on the webflow.io address. Add a small Collection, maybe five blog posts, to see how CMS templates work. Only then decide: Basic for a static brochure, Premium if you need the CMS, Core if you are designing sites for others. Choose yearly billing once you are sure.

A shop owner who needs UPI tomorrow should look elsewhere.

Webflow FAQ

What is Webflow used for?

Webflow is used to design, build and host custom websites visually, with a CMS for blogs and listings. Startups, SaaS companies, agencies and designers use it for marketing sites, portfolios and content hubs. It also runs small online stores through Webflow Ecommerce.

How much does Webflow cost per month?

Site plans cost $15 a month for Basic and $25 a month for Premium on yearly billing, or $25 and $39 on monthly billing. Workspace plans for builders start at $19 a month (Core) on yearly billing. Ecommerce plans run from $29 to $212 a month on yearly billing, with tax added.

Is Webflow free to use?

Yes, the Starter plan is free with no time limit. It allows 2 static pages, 50 CMS items, 1 GB of bandwidth and a webflow.io address only. You need a paid site plan to connect your own domain.

How do I connect a custom domain in Webflow?

Buy a paid site plan, then go to Site settings, Publishing, Production and add the domain. Add the A, CNAME and TXT records your dashboard shows at your registrar, then verify and publish. DNS changes can take up to 48 hours.

Is Webflow good for SEO?

Yes. You can edit title tags, meta descriptions and Open Graph data per page or through CMS fields, and Webflow creates the sitemap automatically. Redirects and robots.txt are managed in settings, though schema markup needs custom code.

Webflow vs WordPress: which is better?

Webflow is better for design-led sites where you want hosting and updates handled with no plugin upkeep. WordPress is cheaper and more flexible for large blogs, UPI-based stores and anyone who wants to switch hosts later. Webflow code export leaves out CMS content, so moving away is harder.

Can I pay for Webflow from India?

Yes, with an international debit or credit card, but all prices are in US dollars and there is no rupee price list. Your bank adds its exchange rate and any forex markup. Yearly billing avoids repeated e-mandate approvals and costs up to 40% less.

What are the best Webflow alternatives?

WordPress (with Elementor or WooCommerce) is the main alternative for flexibility and cost. Wix and Squarespace are easier for beginners, and Framer is popular with designers. For Indian stores that need UPI, Shopify is usually the better choice.

How do I fix a Webflow site that is not publishing?

Make sure the custom domain is ticked in the publish menu and still verified in Production settings. Check status.webflow.com for publishing issues and reload in a private window to rule out caching. On team Workspaces, confirm your role has publishing permission.

Who is Webflow best for?

Webflow suits designers, agencies, startups and SaaS marketing teams who want pixel-level control and managed hosting. It is less suitable for beginners who want a quick drag-and-drop site or Indian shops that need UPI at checkout.
