Our verdict

4.0out of 5

v0 is the best choice when the interface matters and you want React code a developer can maintain, deployed to Vercel in one step. The free tier is a short trial and token billing needs watching, so start free, connect GitHub early, and upgrade to Plus at $30 only once the output fits your stack.

What is v0 by Vercel?

Seven messages a day. That is the whole allowance on v0's Free plan in October 2026, plus a one-time $5 credit for new accounts, and it shapes how you should read this v0 by Vercel AI UI generator review and pricing guide. v0 is Vercel's prompt-to-app agent: you describe a screen or a feature, it writes Next.js code with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, shows a live preview, and can publish the result to Vercel's hosting. In July 2026 the old Team plan was renamed Plus, and the $20 Premium tier is being retired and is closed to new users, so many older reviews now quote the wrong plans.

The four v0 plans on the official price card

All figures below come from v0.app/pricing and the pricing page in the v0 docs. Prices are in US dollars and exclude GST, which Vercel adds based on your billing address. Rupee figures are approx. conversions at about ₹94.7 to the dollar, not official INR prices.

PlanPriceIncluded usageWhat it adds
Free$07 messages a day; $5 one-time credit for new usersDesign Mode, GitHub sync, deploys to Vercel
Plus$30 per user a month (approx. ₹2,841)$30 of credits per user each month, plus $2 of daily credits when you log inAll models, extra credit purchases, shared credit pool, chat sharing, central billing
Business$100 per user a month (approx. ₹9,470)$30 of credits per user each monthTraining opt-out switched on by default
EnterpriseCustomAgreed by contractNo training on your data, SAML SSO, role-based access, priority access with no queues, support SLAs

Read the Business row carefully. It costs more than three times Plus yet includes the same $30 of monthly credits. The docs feature table gives Plus the same team features, so the extra $70 buys a data setting, not more generations. Existing Premium subscribers ($20 a month, approx. ₹1,894) keep their plan for now, but you cannot sign up for it.

How v0 Vercel pricing credits actually get spent

v0 does not charge per message on paid plans. It charges per token, at a rate set by the model you pick. The pricing page lists four in-house tiers, priced per million tokens:

  • v0 Mini: $0.20 input, $1.20 output. The cheap option for copy edits and small fixes.
  • v0 Pro: $2 input, $10 output. The middle setting most people will leave on.
  • v0 Max: $5 input, $25 output, meant for harder multi-file work.
  • v0 Max Fast: $10 input, $50 output, the same capability returned faster.

The detail that drains wallets sits in the docs: chat history and your project's source files count as input. Every new message on a big project re-sends a lot of context, so the tenth request in a long thread costs far more than the first. Unused monthly credits roll over and expire after 65 days. Credits you buy on top last one year but need an active paid plan before you can spend them. Since September 2026 the model picker can also browse third-party models served through Vercel's AI Gateway.

Where the v0 free plan limits bite

Seven messages is enough to generate a hero section, ask for two revisions and fix a bug. It is not enough to build a dashboard with auth and a database. The cap counts messages, not tokens, so a short "make the button blue" uses up a slot just like a long brief does. Free users still get Design Mode, GitHub sync and Vercel deployment, which makes the plan a fair trial of the workflow but a poor place to build anything real. The docs also say the newer $5 signup credit is one-time and does not renew, while older free accounts keep a $5 monthly allowance.

Paying for v0 from India

Nothing in the v0 docs or pricing page limits sign-ups from India, and the product works in any modern browser. Billing is in USD only, so expect your bank's forex markup on top of the card charge, and GST is added to the invoice where required. The June 2026 changelog added Apple Pay and Google Pay at checkout; no rupee price is listed and UPI is not mentioned. A solo Plus seat lands near ₹2,841 a month before tax, which compares with a mid-range hosting bill rather than a cheap SaaS add-on.

What v0 does well: Design Mode, Figma and a predictable stack

v0's output is narrow on purpose. It writes React components in Next.js, styles them with Tailwind CSS and builds on shadcn/ui primitives, with TypeScript throughout. That narrowness helps. A front-end developer can open the files and recognise every pattern.

Design Mode lets you click elements in the preview and adjust spacing, colour and type without spending a prompt. A layers viewer and toolbar were added in June 2026. Figma import works by uploading a design file, and since July v0 can inspect the Figma file directly instead of guessing from a screenshot.

The agentic v0 of 2026 also does more than draw screens. According to the docs it can search the web, inspect an existing site, diagnose its own errors, connect to databases and call outside APIs. A Shopify integration arrived in June and was opened to every user in July, and there is an iOS app for prompting and previewing from a phone.

Getting v0 code into VS Code and GitHub

The cleanest route out is the GitHub integration. Once a repository is connected, v0 works on its own branch (named like v0/main-abc123), commits after every change and never pushes straight to main. Pressing Publish merges the pull request and kicks off a production deployment on Vercel, which is the one click deploy most people come for. To keep working in VS Code, clone that repo, run the usual npm install and carry on locally. If you skip Git, the FAQ says you can export the code to work locally, and since October the Code tab can download files it cannot preview. Imports work the other way too: a ZIP upload or a GitHub repo can become a v0 project.

Developers who want v0 inside their own product get a Platform API. The docs say it needs an API key from v0 settings and a Premium or Plus plan, and ship an SDK (v0-sdk).

Who owns the code, and who trains on it

The v0 FAQ is direct: Vercel does not own code generated from your prompts. It also warns that output can resemble what other users receive or third-party material, so checking licences and originality stays your job. On training, v0 may use prompts and content to improve its products unless you are on Enterprise or have opted out in your Vercel team settings. Business has that opt-out on by default. The pricing docs list data opt-out only for Business and Enterprise, though the FAQ sends every user to the data preferences page. Vercel says it holds a SOC 2 Type 2 attestation with v0 in scope. One more catch: Vercel's terms limit its Hobby hosting plan to personal, non-commercial use, so a client site you deploy from v0 should sit on a paid Vercel team.

v0 vs Bolt.new for a landing page with a working form

Bolt.new prices by tokens rather than dollars of credit. Its pricing page lists a free tier of 1M tokens a month with a 300K daily cap, Pro at $18 a month billed yearly ($216 a year, approx. ₹1,705 a month) with 10M tokens, and Teams at $27 per member a month on yearly billing. Free Bolt sites can be hosted but carry Bolt branding and no custom domain.

For a marketing page with a contact form, both tools get you there in an afternoon. v0 tends to produce cleaner, more conventional React components and publishes to Vercel's network. Bolt gives a bigger free allowance and bundles databases on every plan, which suits people building a small full-stack app who never plan to read the code. If your team already deploys on Vercel, v0 is the shorter path.

v0 vs Cursor once the project lives in a repo

These two overlap less than people assume. Cursor is a desktop code editor with an AI agent; its plans run from a free tier to Plus at $8 a month and Premium at $30 a month. v0 lives in the browser, starts from a prompt and is happiest in a Next.js app.

A common pattern is to use both: sketch the UI and first version in v0, push to GitHub, then open the repo in Cursor for the slow work of refactoring, tests and back-end logic. If you only want one tool and already write code daily, Cursor gives more control per rupee. If you are a designer or PM who wants a clickable, deployed prototype, v0 is the better fit.

Lovable, Replit and the other v0 alternatives

Lovable is the closest rival for non-coders. Its Free plan gives 5 build credits a day up to 30 a month, Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 credits, and it ships a built-in backend with auth and a database. Choose Lovable when login, data and payments matter more than front-end polish. Choose v0 when the interface is the product and you want code a React developer will happily maintain.

Replit is broader again: a cloud IDE with an agent, many languages and hosting, with Core at $20 a month.

Why bills on v0 climb faster than expected

The usual complaint about v0 is not quality but cost control. Because context counts as input, long chats on growing projects burn credits quickly, and switching to Max or Max Fast multiplies the bill (Max output costs about 21 times Mini's rate). Generation simply pauses when credits run out. Other limits worth knowing:

  • Output assumes Next.js and React; Vue, Svelte or plain PHP projects are outside its comfort zone.
  • Business costs $100 per seat but adds no extra credits over Plus.
  • No INR billing, UPI or annual discount appears on the pricing page.

v0 by Vercel AI UI generator review and pricing: a sensible first week

Start on Free and spend your seven daily messages on one real screen from your product, not a toy demo. Connect GitHub on day one so every change lands in a branch you control. Use Design Mode for visual tweaks so you are not paying messages for padding changes. If you upgrade to Plus, set Mini or Pro as your default model, open a fresh chat when a thread gets long, and open the Usage dashboard in settings after a few days to see what each request really cost. Check the data preferences in your Vercel team settings if your prompts include client material. Move up to Business only when a client or employer insists on training being off by default.

v0 by Vercel FAQ

What is v0 by Vercel?

v0 is an AI agent from Vercel that turns text prompts, screenshots or Figma designs into working web apps. It writes React and Next.js code styled with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui, shows a live preview and can publish to Vercel's hosting in one step. It runs in the browser, and there is also an iOS app.

How much does v0 cost?

v0 has a Free plan, Plus at $30 per user a month (approx. ₹2,841) and Business at $100 per user a month (approx. ₹9,470), with Enterprise priced on request. Plus and Business each include $30 of monthly credits per user, and Plus users also get $2 of daily credits on login. Prices are in USD and exclude GST.

Is v0 free to use?

Yes, the Free plan costs nothing and allows 7 messages a day. New users also receive a one-time $5 credit that does not renew. Free accounts keep Design Mode, GitHub sync and deployment to Vercel, but not access to every model.

How do I export v0 code to VS Code?

The simplest way is to connect a GitHub repository in v0, let it commit to its working branch, then clone that repo and open it in VS Code. v0's FAQ also says you can export the code to work locally, and the Code tab can download files it cannot preview. After that, install dependencies with npm and run the Next.js project as usual.

Who owns the code generated by v0?

According to v0's FAQ, Vercel does not own the code generated from your prompts. The same FAQ warns that output may resemble what other users get or third-party material, so you are responsible for checking it before commercial use. Note that prompts may be used for training unless you opt out or are on Enterprise.

v0 vs Lovable: which is better?

Lovable suits non-coders who need login, a database and payments working quickly, since it includes its own backend; its Pro plan starts at $25 a month. v0 produces cleaner front-end code on a standard Next.js and shadcn/ui stack and deploys straight to Vercel. Pick v0 for interface-heavy work and developer handoff, Lovable for complete apps built without code.

Can I use v0 in India?

Yes. Neither the v0 docs nor its pricing page restrict sign-ups from India, and it runs in any modern browser. Billing is in US dollars with GST added where required, no INR price is listed and UPI is not mentioned, so budget for your card's forex markup.

What are the best v0 alternatives?

Lovable and Bolt.new are the closest prompt-to-app alternatives, with Lovable stronger on built-in backend features and Bolt offering 1M free tokens a month. Replit adds a full cloud IDE and many languages. Developers who prefer an editor usually pick Cursor or GitHub Copilot instead.

Why does v0 run out of credits quickly?

Paid usage is billed by tokens, and v0 counts chat history and project source files as input on each request. Long threads on large projects therefore cost more per message, and the Max and Max Fast models charge much higher rates than Mini or Pro. Starting fresh chats and defaulting to a cheaper model slows the drain.

Who is v0 best for?

v0 suits front-end developers, designers, product managers and founders who want a working, deployable React prototype quickly. It fits teams already hosting on Vercel best. People building non-JavaScript apps or working mostly inside large existing codebases will get more from an AI code editor.
