Our verdict
Lovable is the most complete prompt-to-app builder for people who cannot code but need login, a database and payments working on day one. The credit system is its weak point: costs vary by request, and the free tier runs out quickly. Start free, and move to Pro at $25 only once the agent handles your idea well.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Lovable?
In October 2026 Lovable's homepage counted 60 million projects, plus 1.2 million new ones a week, and nearly all start the same way: someone types a sentence and gets a working React app with a database behind it a minute later. That prompt to app speed is the easy part to like. The harder part is the meter running underneath it, so this review spends most of its time on lovable ai app builder pricing and credits, using the official plan docs as of October 2026, before getting to Supabase, GitHub, security and the tools you might pick instead.
What one Lovable credit buys, in actual edits
Every paid tier is sold as a bucket of monthly credits, and a credit is not a fixed unit of work. Lovable's own examples put a button colour change at 0.50 credits, removing a footer at 0.90, adding sign-up and login at 1.20, and a landing page with generated images at roughly 1.70 to 2.00 (the pricing page and the docs quote slightly different figures). Small, precise requests are cheap. Vague ones that touch many files are not.
The editor has three ways to talk to the agent, and they bill differently:
- Build mode writes code and is priced on the work done. By default it pauses to ask before a single message goes past 20 credits, and you can raise that ceiling as high as 100,000.
- Plan mode costs 1 credit per message (plus any research it sends subagents to do) and produces a plan, not code.
- Chat mode never touches your files. Each message costs a fraction of a credit and comes out of a daily chat allowance first. The allowance size is not published and has changed before, so check the chat mode docs for your plan.
There is a second meter that new users often miss. Once an app is live, hosting, the database and any AI features inside the app burn run credits from the same balance, so a busy live app competes with your building budget.
Lovable AI app builder pricing and credits, tier by tier
According to Lovable's subscription plans page, the published tiers are:
- Free: $0, with 5 daily build credits capped at 30 a month, the daily chat allowance and community support only.
- Pro: from $25 a month for 100 monthly credits, plus 5 daily credits. You can scale the same plan up in steps: 200 credits for $50, 400 for $100, 800 for $200, and so on to 10,000 credits for $2,250. Custom domain support, badge removal and user roles start here.
- Business: from $50 a month for the same 100 credits. The extra money pays for SSO, role-based access, design templates, a workspace security center, priority support and AI training being switched off by default.
- Enterprise: contract pricing, adding SCIM, audit logs, EU inference and dedicated onboarding.
Annual billing charges ten months for twelve, so Pro at 100 credits is $250 a year. Unused monthly credits roll over while you stay subscribed, but on monthly billing they expire two months after they were issued. Top-ups are available only on paid plans: $15 per 50 credits on Pro and $30 per 50 on Business, valid for 12 months. That is $0.30 a credit on Pro against $0.25 inside the base subscription, so buying a bigger tier usually beats topping up. Every plan allows unlimited workspace members sharing one credit pool, with no per-seat fee.
What the Lovable free plan daily credits actually cover
Five credits a day sounds generous until you look at the examples above. That is enough for a first draft of a simple landing page and a handful of fixes, then you wait for the 00:00 UTC reset (5:30 am in India). The monthly cap of 30 means you cannot treat it as 150 credits a month either. Free projects can be private, and since October 2026 Free and Pro users can publish to an invite-only audience, but a custom domain needs a paid plan, and the "Edit with Lovable" badge stays on. Use the free tier to judge whether the agent understands your idea, not to finish a client project.
Paying for Lovable from India in dollars
There is no INR price list. Every tier is billed in US dollars through a Stripe checkout, and the billing docs talk about cards without mentioning UPI or local wallets. In practice that means a credit or debit card enabled for international online payments, a forex markup from your bank, and an invoice that carries whatever billing name, address and tax details you enter in the Stripe portal. There is also a standing student and teacher program: verify an academic email from a Free workspace and Pro at 100 credits costs $12.50 a month, billed monthly, for up to 12 months.
Lovable Supabase integration setup, and why Cloud comes first now
New projects get Lovable Cloud by default. It is a managed backend built on Supabase's open-source stack, with a Postgres database, auth, file storage, edge functions, secrets, scheduled jobs and logs that you manage from inside the editor. For most first apps you never open another dashboard.
If you want the database on your own account and your own bill, connect an external Supabase project instead. A workspace owner or admin first links the Supabase organisation. Then, in the editor, open More, then Cloud, choose "Already have a Supabase project? Connect it here", and pick the project. After that, Lovable designs tables from plain-English descriptions and runs schema migrations only after you approve them.
Make this choice on day one. The docs are clear that there is no one-click move between Cloud and an external project in either direction, and some conveniences (managed backups, signed-in browser testing, sensitive data scanning) work only on Cloud.
GitHub sync, Figma import and Stripe keep the code yours
GitHub sync is two-way and available on every plan, including Free. Lovable creates a private repository, pushes each change, and pulls back anything committed to the active branch, so a developer can fix something in VS Code and the agent sees it. Figma import works through a free Figma plugin (exports of up to 100 files, 20 MB each), a Figma MCP link for the desktop apps, or a plain .fig upload. Stripe integration takes your own restricted or secret key through a form, never through the chat, and builds checkout or subscription flows with payments landing in your Stripe account; a paid Lovable plan is not required for this. For layout tweaks there are visual edits, which let you change text, sizes and colours by clicking elements rather than writing a prompt.
Lovable vs Bolt.new and v0 on price and backend
| Tool | Free tier | Entry paid plan | Backend story |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lovable | 5 build credits a day, 30 a month | Pro, $25/mo for 100 credits | Built-in Cloud (Supabase-based) or your own Supabase |
| Bolt.new | 1M tokens a month, 300K a day | Pro, $25/mo from 10M tokens | Bolt hosting with unlimited databases |
| v0 by Vercel | 7 messages a day | Plus, $30 per user/mo with $30 of credits | Deploys to Vercel; front-end first |
Bolt prices by tokens, so long conversations cost more, while Lovable prices by message complexity. Bolt's Teams plan charges $30 per member and does not share tokens; Lovable's single pool with unlimited members is cheaper for a small agency. v0 is strongest at polished React and Next.js front ends for teams already on Vercel. For a non-developer who needs login, a database and payments in one place, Lovable is the most complete of the three.
Is Lovable-generated code safe to ship?
Safer than it used to be, but not by default. A quick scan runs on every publish and flags tables without row-level security, rules that let everyone through, and risky dependencies. A deeper scan, started by hand, reviews access control, leaked secrets, payments and exposed personal data. Lovable's own docs say these tools cannot guarantee complete security, and misconfigured RLS is the common cause of leaks in apps like these. If your app stores customer data, run the deep scan and get a human review before launch.
Who owns the app, and what Lovable trains on
The terms say you own the AI output and may run the apps you build as a business, with the usual caveat that similar prompts can produce similar code. Lovable Labs Sweden AB, the Stockholm company behind the product, does use customer content to train models on Free and Pro, but the privacy policy lets anyone opt out in account settings at no cost. Business and Enterprise content is excluded by default. Your end users' data is never used. For client work, keep the app on a custom domain, since Lovable keeps the right to reassign lovable.app subdomains.
Stopping credits from draining on one bug
The common complaint is a fix that loops: the agent edits, breaks something else, edits again. A few habits cut the waste:
- Use chat mode to diagnose first. It is billed at a fraction of a credit and does not change code.
- Ask for one change per message, and name the file or component.
- Keep the 20-credit check-in on so a runaway build has to ask permission.
- Revert to the last working version instead of prompting "fix it" five times.
- For run costs, pause idle Cloud backends, delete unused storage files and right-size the Cloud instance.
Admins also get warnings before the workspace balance runs out, and an "Optimize your usage" button appears once a project crosses 5 run credits in a week.
Lovable alternatives for beginners who want less to learn
If you only need a marketing site, a website builder such as Wix or Framer is cheaper and has no credit maths. If you like the prompt approach but want token-based billing, Bolt.new is the closest match. If you are learning to code and want an editor you will grow into, Replit (from $20 a month on Core) gives you a real IDE alongside its agent. Developers comfortable in an editor are better served by Cursor or GitHub Copilot, which help with existing code rather than generating whole apps.
Three prompts to try before you pay
On the free tier, start with a narrow brief: "a booking page for a yoga studio with a form that saves to a database". Then ask for login, which tests the Cloud auth setup. Then connect GitHub and look at the repository, because readable code is your exit route if you ever leave. If all three go smoothly inside a week's daily credits, Pro at 100 credits is a fair bet. If the agent keeps misreading you at this size, more credits will not fix it.

Lovable FAQ
What is Lovable and what can it build?
Lovable is a browser-based AI app builder from Stockholm that turns plain-English prompts into React web apps. It can build landing pages, internal tools, dashboards and full-stack apps with login, a database, file storage and Stripe payments through its built-in Cloud backend. You can also edit projects from its desktop and mobile apps.
How much does Lovable cost per month?
Lovable has a Free plan, Pro from $25 a month for 100 credits and Business from $50 a month for 100 credits. Both paid plans scale up to 10,000 credits a month ($2,250 on Pro), and annual billing gives two months free. Enterprise pricing is set by contract.
How many free credits does Lovable give?
The Free plan gives 5 build credits a day, capped at 30 per calendar month, plus a daily chat allowance for chat mode whose size Lovable does not publish. Hosting, the database and AI features in a live app draw on credits too. Daily credits reset at 00:00 UTC and do not roll over.
How do I connect Supabase to Lovable?
New projects use Lovable Cloud, which is built on Supabase, so most people need no separate account. To use your own Supabase project, a workspace owner or admin links the Supabase organisation, then you open More, Cloud and choose to connect an existing Supabase project. There is no one-click migration between Cloud and an external project, so decide early.
Is code generated by Lovable secure?
Not automatically. Lovable runs a quick security scan on every publish that checks row-level security, open access rules and dependencies, and offers a deeper manual scan for secrets, auth, payments and exposed personal data. Lovable's docs say these checks cannot guarantee complete security, so apps holding customer data need a human review.
Lovable vs Bolt vs v0: which is better?
All three start at $25 to $30 a month. Lovable prices by credits per message and includes a full backend with auth and database; Bolt.new prices by tokens (1M free a month, Pro from 10M); v0 gives 7 free messages a day and suits front ends deployed on Vercel. For non-developers who need a working backend, Lovable is the most complete.
Can I pay for Lovable from India?
Yes. Lovable has no INR pricing, so plans are charged in US dollars through Stripe, and the billing docs mention cards rather than UPI. You need a card enabled for international payments, and your bank may add a forex markup. Verified students and teachers can get 50% off Pro at 100 credits for up to 12 months.
What are the best Lovable alternatives?
Bolt.new is the closest prompt-to-app rival, v0 by Vercel is strong for React and Next.js front ends, and Replit adds a full cloud IDE with its agent. Developers who already write code often prefer Cursor or GitHub Copilot. For a simple marketing site, a website builder like Wix is cheaper.
Lovable credits are running out too fast. How do I fix it?
Diagnose problems in chat mode, which costs a fraction of a credit and does not edit code, and ask for one specific change per message. Keep the default 20-credit check-in in build mode so large edits ask first, and restore a working version instead of repeating fix prompts. For run credits, pause idle Cloud backends, delete unused files and right-size the Cloud instance.
Who is Lovable best for?
Lovable suits founders, marketers, product managers and small agencies who want a working web app or MVP without writing code. It also helps developers prototype fast and then take over through GitHub sync. It is less suited to native mobile apps, large existing codebases or teams who need fixed, predictable monthly costs.
