Our verdict
Strikingly is a sensible, low-cost pick for a one-page or small multi-page site, and Pro at $16 a month billed yearly is a fair deal for a modest store. Its thin SEO tools, store fees below VIP and strict no-refund rule mean growing businesses are usually better served by Wix or Squarespace.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Strikingly?
Strikingly reportedly started in 2012 (per Y Combinator's directory and Wikipedia) with a narrow promise: a decent single-scroll site in under half an hour, built from a phone or a laptop with no code. The promise has not changed, but the product now carries an online store, memberships, newsletters and an AI writer. This Strikingly website builder review and pricing guide uses the official pricing page and Strikingly's help center as checked in October 2026, so you can judge whether the paid tiers are worth it for a portfolio, a launch page or a small shop.
Nothing here comes from a paid trial. Where Strikingly's own documents contradict each other, we point it out instead of picking the friendlier figure.
Strikingly pricing: Limited, Pro and VIP in US dollars
The plan names in older guides are still the current ones. Strikingly sells three paid tiers called Limited, Pro and VIP, plus a free plan that it does not put on the pricing grid. The pricing page says all prices are in USD and takes payment by credit card or PayPal. The figures below are the regular per-month rates when billed yearly. INR amounts are our approximate conversion at ₹94.7 per dollar, because Strikingly publishes no rupee price list.
| Plan | Price (billed yearly) | Approx. INR | Sites, storage, pages | Store |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | ₹0 | Unlimited free sites on a mystrikingly.com address; storage and bandwidth not published on the pricing page (see below) | Not specified on the pricing page |
| Limited | $8/mo ($96 a year) | ≈ ₹758/mo (≈ ₹9,091 a year) | 2 Limited sites, 1 GB storage each, 50 GB bandwidth, up to 5 pages per site | 1 product, 5% transaction fee |
| Pro | $16/mo ($192 a year) | ≈ ₹1,515/mo (≈ ₹18,182 a year) | 3 Pro sites, 20 GB storage each, unlimited bandwidth, up to 100 pages per site | Up to 300 products, 2% fee |
| VIP | $49/mo ($588 a year) | ≈ ₹4,640/mo (≈ ₹55,684 a year) | 5 VIP sites, 100 GB storage each, unlimited bandwidth | Up to 500 products, 0% fee |
Monthly billing exists, but the page does not print a monthly-billed figure for any tier. The term selector instead shows what a longer term saves against paying month to month: $48 for one year, $144 for two, $288 for three and $528 for five. These are standard term savings, not a sale, though the page does not name the plan behind them. You can move from monthly to yearly later, though the FAQ says you cannot go back from yearly to monthly. A domain costs $24.95 a year (≈ ₹2,363) after the free first year that comes with paid plans, and a custom email address is a separate $25 a year (≈ ₹2,368).
We leave out time-limited extras such as the student discount, coupon codes and a fee lock-in offer. Budget on the regular rate.
Where the Strikingly free plan limits start to hurt
The pricing page is vague about the free tier. It confirms free sites, free HTTPS and that connecting a custom domain needs a paid plan, but prints no storage or bandwidth figures. The only numbers we found sit in a help-centre plan comparison titled "[INTERNAL]" (posted November 2025), which lists 500 MB of storage per site and 5 GB of monthly bandwidth. Given that label, treat those limits as indicative. Free sites run on a name.mystrikingly.com address and show Strikingly branding in the footer. The lack of a custom domain on its own rules the free tier out for most businesses, yet a student portfolio or event page can stay free indefinitely, blog included.
Then there is the number of free sites. The pricing page and two help articles say you can publish unlimited free sites. The AI site builder article, posted in October 2026, answers its own FAQ with "free users can create up to 5 sites only". Plan around five if you expect to run many experiments.
The current pricing page offers no free trial of the paid tiers, so the free plan is the way to test the editor before paying.
Why a Strikingly one page website is still its best use
Most builders treat the single scrolling page as one template among hundreds. Strikingly built its whole editor around it. You stack sections (hero, gallery, text, contact form, store, blog), and the navigation bar jumps between them. For one page websites like a wedding invite, a freelance resume, a product waitlist or a restaurant menu, this is quick and hard to break.
The weak spot shows when the site grows. Limited caps you at five pages per site, so a clinic with service pages, a team page and a blog outgrows it fast. Pro raises the ceiling to 100 pages, which covers most small businesses, but the section-based editor still feels cramped next to Wix's free-form canvas for anything with complex layouts. Every theme is mobile optimized by default; the trade-off is that you get less pixel-level control than in Webflow or Framer.
The AI website builder, the store and other paid features
Strikingly's AI website builder sits at the top of the template screen. You enter a site title and a description, and optionally pick tone, language, a single-page or multi-page format and a logo. It drafts text, images and sections, offers three template styles, and lets you regenerate three more. Inside the editor, "Write More" and "Rewrite" tools rework selected text, though the help article says these two are not available in the blog editor. That article's FAQ says the AI Editor is included in all plans, with free accounts capped at five sites.
The ecommerce side is called Simple Store. It handles coupons, shipping rules and digital downloads. Checkout runs through PayPal and Stripe, Square in six countries, and offline payment for manual methods. Strikingly takes its own cut on top of the processor's fee: 5% on Limited, 2% on Pro, nothing on VIP. A shop doing ₹1 lakh a month on Pro pays roughly ₹2,000 to Strikingly before Stripe or PayPal charges, which is more than the $16 plan itself.
Pro also adds the things a working business site needs: no Strikingly footer, custom forms, password-protected pages, site search, pop-ups, uploaded fonts, version restore and custom HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Membership features arrive here too, including paid subscription memberships. VIP adds multiple membership tiers, a newsletter tool with 2,000 active contacts, multi-language sites with auto-translation, a live chat widget for visitors, phone support in English and a dedicated account manager.
Is Strikingly good for SEO?
It covers the basics and little more. The help center explains how to set page titles and meta descriptions for each page, add image alt text, connect a custom domain, verify with Google Search Console and submit a sitemap. Built-in analytics show top pages and referral sources. The SEO guide says nothing about keyword research, redirects or schema markup, so do not count on them. A single-page site also gives search engines one URL to rank for every topic, so if organic traffic matters, build a multi-page site on Pro and give each service its own page.
Strikingly vs Wix for a small Indian business
Wix is the obvious comparison because both target non-technical owners. Wix figures below come from Wix's official plans (yearly billing, USD), matching our Wix review.
- Entry price with a custom domain: Strikingly Limited at $8/mo against Wix Light at $17/mo. Strikingly is about half the price, but Limited allows only five pages.
- Taking payments: Strikingly lets Limited sell one product. Wix needs Core at $29/mo (≈ ₹2,746) before you can accept payments, while Strikingly Pro handles 300 products for $16/mo, with a 2% fee.
- Free tier: Wix gives 500 MB storage and 1 GB bandwidth on a wixsite.com address with ads. Strikingly's internal-labelled help table suggests the same storage with 5 GB of bandwidth.
- Depth: Wix has bookings, a large app market, a JavaScript platform (Velo) and many more templates. Strikingly has none of these at the same scale.
Pick Strikingly if your site is a few sections long and you want it cheap and tidy. Pick Wix if you need appointments, many integrations or room to grow into a complex site.
Paying for Strikingly from India
There is no rupee checkout. Plans are billed in USD to a credit card or PayPal, so use a card with international transactions enabled and expect your bank's foreign-currency markup and the GST banks levy on that conversion. For your own customers, Strikingly lists India among the countries where Stripe works with Simple Store, and PayPal is the fallback. UPI-first gateways such as Razorpay are not mentioned in the help center, so Indian shoppers paying by UPI may find checkout limited.
Data, ownership and the refund rule that catches people
The terms of service (the help-centre copy is dated 24 September 2025; the text itself carries no effective date) say Strikingly, Inc. claims no ownership of your content. You only give it permission to host that content while you keep using the service, and California law governs disputes. The privacy policy page still carries a 2013 "last updated" line, does not mention GDPR and says nothing about using site content for AI training, which is thin compared with larger rivals. Domains are registered through Tucows and their fees are non-refundable.
The bigger issue is money back. Strikingly's billing article states plainly that it does not allow refunds. Combined with the rule that yearly plans cannot drop back to monthly, that makes a multi-year prepay a real commitment.
How to cancel a Strikingly subscription without losing your site
Go to your account page, click Cancel Plan, then Confirm Cancel Plan and finish the prompts. Premium features stay active until the billing cycle ends, after which the account reverts to the free plan. You keep the rights to any domain you bought, but connecting a domain needs a paid plan, so expect visitors to land on the mystrikingly.com address. The Strikingly footer returns, and Pro items such as header and footer custom code and site passwords are removed. Plans renew automatically, so cancel before the renewal date. The cancellation article mentions no export tool, so save your text and images before leaving.
Building your first Strikingly site in an afternoon
- Create a free account and choose Create New Site from the dashboard.
- Try the AI builder with a two-line description of your business, or pick a single-page template if you know the layout you want.
- Edit section by section, and set page titles, descriptions and image alt text before publishing.
- Upgrade only when you need a custom domain or checkout, and compare one-year against longer terms knowing there are no refunds.
- Connect your domain, verify it in Google Search Console and submit the sitemap.
Who should pick Strikingly, and our Strikingly website builder review and pricing verdict
Strikingly suits freelancers, students, event organisers, early-stage founders and makers selling a handful of products who want a clean site for less than Wix charges. Its 24/7 chat support on every paid plan helps beginners. It is not the right buy for content-heavy blogs, shops needing UPI checkout, or teams that need bookings and deep integrations. If those apply, look at Wix, Squarespace or Hostinger's builder, or at Carrd if you only need one page at the lowest cost.

Strikingly FAQ
What is Strikingly?
Strikingly is a hosted website builder from Strikingly, Inc. Y Combinator's company directory and Wikipedia report that it was founded in 2012 and went through YC's Winter 2013 batch. It is built around section-based, mobile-ready single-page sites, with a store, blog, memberships and an AI site builder added over the years.
How much does Strikingly cost?
The official pricing page lists Limited at $8, Pro at $16 and VIP at $49 per month when billed yearly, in USD. That works out to about ₹758, ₹1,515 and ₹4,640 a month at ₹94.7 per dollar. Domains cost $24.95 a year after the free first year.
Is Strikingly free?
Yes, there is a free plan with free sites on a mystrikingly.com address, Strikingly branding and no custom domain. The pricing page does not publish its storage or bandwidth; an internal-labelled help table lists 500 MB per site and 5 GB a month. It works for portfolios and test sites, not for a business brand.
How do I create a website with Strikingly?
Sign up, click Create New Site on the dashboard and either describe your site to the AI builder or choose a template. Edit each section, set titles, descriptions and alt text, then publish. Upgrade when you need a custom domain or a checkout.
Is Strikingly good for SEO?
It handles the basics: page titles, meta descriptions, alt text, custom domains, Google Search Console verification and sitemap submission. It lacks advanced tools such as schema editing. For search traffic, use a multi-page site rather than a single scrolling page.
Strikingly vs Wix: which is better?
Strikingly is cheaper, with a custom domain from $8 a month and a 300-product store on Pro at $16, while Wix starts at $17 and needs Core at $29 for payments. Wix is far deeper, with bookings, an app market and developer tools. Choose Strikingly for small, simple sites and Wix for growth and complexity.
Can I pay for Strikingly in India?
Yes, but only in US dollars. The pricing page accepts credit cards and PayPal, so you need a card enabled for international payments and should expect forex charges. There is no official INR price list.
What are the best Strikingly alternatives?
Wix suits businesses that need bookings and many integrations. Squarespace is known for design-led templates, and Carrd is cheaper for a single page. Webflow and Framer give designers more layout control.
How do I cancel my Strikingly subscription?
Open your account page, click Cancel Plan, then Confirm Cancel Plan and follow the prompts. Premium features last until the billing cycle ends, then the account moves to the free plan and you can no longer connect a custom domain. Strikingly does not give refunds, so cancel before the renewal date.
Who is Strikingly best for?
It fits freelancers, students, event organisers, founders testing an idea and small sellers with a few products. It is less suitable for large blogs, stores relying on UPI payments or businesses that need appointment booking.
