Our verdict
Shiprocket is the default starting point for most small Indian online sellers: the free Lite plan, wide courier choice and solid Shopify and WooCommerce sync make it easy to begin. Budget for COD fees, RTO and weight revisions, measure your boxes carefully, and move to Business or Advanced only once your monthly volume covers the fee.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Shiprocket?
A seller shipping 40 parcels a month and one shipping 4,000 both log in to the same Shiprocket dashboard, but they do not pay the same per parcel. That gap is the real story behind Shiprocket shipping charges and courier rates India sellers keep searching for. Shiprocket is a courier aggregator: you recharge a wallet, compare live quotes from its courier partners (the homepage says 42+), print a label and book a pickup, without signing a single contract with Delhivery, Xpressbees or anyone else. Your plan, your parcel weight and the delivery zone decide the final number.
The company behind it, Shiprocket Limited, launched the product in 2017 after starting out in 2012 with SmartStore, a store builder. Its corporate office is in Gurugram and its registered office is in South Delhi. The homepage claims 4 lakh+ businesses, 19,000+ pin codes and 220+ countries (the about page still says 2.5 lakh+ retailers).
Lite, Business, Advanced, Pro: what each monthly fee actually buys
Shiprocket does not charge per seat or per order for software. It charges a small monthly plan fee and then makes its money on the freight margin. The pricing page lists four plans, each with an "average shipment cost" that falls as you move up:
| Plan | Monthly fee | Average cost per shipment | Suggested volume | Fee refunded if you ship |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | Free | ₹45 | Up to 5 orders a month | Not applicable |
| Business | ₹199/mo | ₹41 | 5 to 50 orders | 100 shipments in a month |
| Advanced | ₹499/mo | ₹39 | 50 to 200 orders | 500 shipments in a month |
| Pro | ₹799/mo | ₹36 | Higher volumes | 1,000 shipments in a month |
Do the maths on your own volume. At 60 orders a month, Business saves about ₹4 a parcel over Lite, or roughly ₹240, which covers its ₹199 fee with a little to spare. At 10 orders a month the paid plan costs more than it saves. Pro only pays for itself once you are well past a few hundred parcels, and if you cross 1,000 shipments the fee comes back anyway.
Every plan, including Lite, gets the same base toolkit: label and manifest generation, automated tracking, sales channel and catalogue sync, a live rate calculator, bulk order processing, email and SMS alerts, multiple pickup addresses, COD reconciliation and a wallet passbook. Higher plans differ in rates and support level (Business gets guided support, Advanced dedicated support and Pro priority ticket resolution). The pricing FAQ adds that quarterly, half-yearly and annual billing are priced differently. NDR automation, a branded tracking page, Early COD, multi-user access, postpaid billing and the courier recommendation engine sit on the add-on list.
Shiprocket pricing per 500g, and why ₹20 is a floor
The homepage headline reads "nationwide shipping at ₹20/500gms*". The asterisk has no footnote on the page, so read ₹20 as a starting rate (lightest slab, nearest zone, cheapest courier), not an average or a typical bill. The plan table's ₹36 to ₹45 averages, which carry their own unexplained asterisk, sit much closer to what a normal D2C parcel costs. Rates are quoted per 500g slab, so check in the calculator how a parcel just over a slab gets billed.
Couriers bill on whichever is higher, dead weight or volumetric weight, which comes from box length, breadth and height. A light cushion in a large carton can cost the same as a 2kg book. Before you compare aggregators, measure your three most common boxes and run them through the rate calculator for local, regional and metro-to-metro zones.
Extra lines that push Shiprocket shipping charges and courier rates India sellers budget for
The freight quote is only part of the bill. Three lines commonly push it up:
- COD fee: cash orders carry a collection charge on top of freight. It varies by courier and is not printed on the public pricing page.
- RTO charges: if a buyer refuses the parcel, it returns to you and the return leg is billed as well. For a fashion brand with a 20% return-to-origin rate, this can wipe out the saving from a cheaper plan.
- Weight revisions: if the courier's scale reads heavier than your declared weight, the difference is debited from your wallet later (the dispute process is covered below).
Shiprocket COD remittance time: the standard cycle and the paid shortcuts
For many small sellers, cash flow decides more than rates. The most recent official answer is a support article updated in June 2024: standard COD is processed on a D+8 cycle (8 working days from delivery) and credited three times a week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday, so expect the money within about 10 working days. Older pages still give other numbers. A 2020 app article says 8 to 9 days, and a much older knowledge-base page says 12 to 17 days with weekly payouts. Trust the June 2024 figure and your own passbook over those.
There are two paid ways to speed this up. Early COD promises remittance as early as two days after delivery, set up from the desktop panel, and its fee is not published. Instant COD, offered only to a limited set of sellers, pays up to 70% of the COD amount the day after shipping, and the support FAQ puts its fee at up to 5% of that amount. The rest follows your normal cycle.
Shiprocket weight dispute: how to resolve one before the clock runs out
Weight discrepancy is the most common complaint about any Indian aggregator, and Shiprocket's process is strict about time. Flagged shipments show up in the Weight Discrepancy tab under the weight panel, with a countdown for each order. You get 7 days to accept or dispute (the terms on the same page say 7 working days). After that, the courier's weight is auto-accepted.
To raise a dispute you pick the product category and subcategory, add the product URL and upload clear photos of the packed box that show all three dimensions. The disputed amount is held, not deducted, while the weight team reviews it, and Shiprocket says a decision comes in 7 days at most. Each order can be disputed only once and that decision is final, so a blurry photo costs you the case. The easiest fix is preventive: weigh every SKU once, save accurate dimensions in the catalogue and photograph packed parcels on the scale for your top sellers.
Connecting a Shopify or WooCommerce store to the shipping panel
Channel integration is where Shiprocket saves the most manual work. For Shopify integration, the support centre describes a one-click route: Setup & Manage, Channels, Add New Channel, Shopify, then authorise the app from your Shopify login. A custom-app route with Admin API credentials exists for stores that prefer it. Unfulfilled orders flow into Shiprocket, processed orders get marked fulfilled back in Shopify, active products are imported and inventory sync can be switched on. One setting deserves attention: payment status mapping, which decides whether an order is treated as COD or prepaid. Get it wrong and a prepaid order can go out with cash collection on it.
WooCommerce, Amazon, Magento 1 and 2, OpenCart, PrestaShop and Unicommerce have their own guides, and a custom channel covers anything else. On WooCommerce the core plugin is free, so a small Indian store can run a free storefront plus a free Lite plan and pay only for hosting and freight. Shopify sellers pay Shopify's own plan fee (Basic is ₹1,994/mo month to month) on top of Shiprocket.
Quick, Cargo, ShipX and Shiprocket Fulfillment for bigger operations
Parcel shipping is the entry point, but the company sells a wider stack:
- Shiprocket Quick: same-city deliveries to one or several drops, starting at ₹10/km with no surge fee according to the homepage.
- Cargo: B2B and bulk freight from ₹6/kg, useful for restocking distributors or marketplace warehouses.
- ShipX and CargoX: international shipping for parcels and bulk loads to 220+ countries and territories.
- Shiprocket Fulfillment: you send stock to its warehouses (the fulfilment page cites 35+ centres) and it handles picking, packing and dispatch, and the page advertises same or next-day delivery. Storage and pick-pack fees are not published there.
- fastrr Checkout and fastrr Identify: a one-click checkout for D2C sites and a WhatsApp marketing tool, grouped under the fastrr by Shiprocket brand.
Sellers who outgrow manual follow-ups should look at the NDR management add-on, which chases buyers after a failed delivery attempt before the parcel turns into an RTO.
Shiprocket vs Shipway for a growing D2C brand
Shipway works on a similar wallet model. Its homepage advertises rates from ₹19/500g, 20+ courier partners, a branded tracking page, NDR follow-ups, a self-serve returns portal and COD remittance from D+2. Its plan details sit behind a login, which makes a public side-by-side harder. Shiprocket offers more courier choice, more channel guides and a broader product range (fulfilment, cargo, cross-border, local delivery). Shipway's pitch is post-purchase tooling such as returns and tracking. If your problem is mostly returns and buyer updates, shortlist both and compare rates on your real box sizes.
Delhivery is a different kind of option. It is a courier with its own network (and one of the couriers you can book through aggregators), and Delhivery One is its self-serve platform for small businesses. Going direct gives you one carrier relationship and fewer layers in a dispute, but you lose the ability to switch couriers per pin code when one performs badly. For a seller doing under 50 parcels a month, an aggregator's free plan is usually the simpler start. NimbusPost, ClickPost and iThink Logistics are other names sellers compare.
Who sees your buyers' data, and what you agree to
Every shipment passes buyer names, phone numbers and addresses to the courier you pick, so Shiprocket and that partner both handle your customer data. The privacy policy, terms, merchant agreement and refund policy are linked in the site footer, and you accept the merchant agreement when you start shipping. Read the parts on wallet balances, liability caps for lost parcels and weight disputes before you scale up.
Weak spots worth checking before you commit
Shiprocket's own pages are not consistent with each other. The pricing page says 25+ courier partners in one place and 42+ in its FAQ, and the about page says 17+. Business counts differ too (4 lakh+ on the homepage, 2.5 lakh+ on the about page). One plan appears as "Business" on the pricing table and "Basic" in the FAQ. The full rate card loads only inside the calculator or your account, so you cannot audit every zone before signing up. Support speed depends on your plan, and the Play Store app holds a 3.9 rating from roughly 55,000 reviews, which suggests mixed experiences. Test with real orders before moving a high-volume store.

Shiprocket FAQ
What is Shiprocket and how does it work?
Shiprocket is an Indian courier aggregator. You connect your store or add orders manually, recharge a wallet, compare live rates from its courier partners, print labels and book pickups from one dashboard. Freight and fees are deducted from the wallet for each shipment.
How much does Shiprocket charge per order?
The pricing page lists average shipment costs of ₹45 on the free Lite plan, ₹41 on Business (₹199/mo), ₹39 on Advanced (₹499/mo) and ₹36 on Pro (₹799/mo). The homepage advertises a starting rate of ₹20/500gms*, with no footnote for the asterisk, so treat it as the lowest slab rather than an average. Your real cost depends on weight, volumetric size, zone, courier and whether the order is COD.
Is Shiprocket free to sign up?
Yes. The Lite plan is free, and the pricing page says there are no fees, no minimum sign-up period and no credit card needed. You only pay for shipments through your wallet, at slightly higher average rates than the paid plans.
How do I integrate Shopify with Shiprocket?
In Shiprocket go to Setup & Manage, then Channels, choose Add New Channel, select Shopify and authorise the app from your Shopify login. Unfulfilled orders then sync into Shiprocket and are marked fulfilled in Shopify once processed. A custom-app method using Admin API credentials is also documented.
Is Shiprocket legit for sellers?
Yes. Shiprocket Limited is an established Indian logistics company that launched in 2017. Its homepage claims 4 lakh+ businesses, and its about page says it was valued at about $1.2 billion in 2022. Common complaints are about weight revisions and support speed, so test with real orders before moving full volume.
Is Shiprocket or Delhivery better for small sellers?
Shiprocket lets a small seller compare many couriers, including Delhivery, from one free account and switch per pin code. Delhivery is a single courier with its own network and a self-serve platform called Delhivery One. Below about 50 parcels a month, an aggregator's free plan is usually easier, while a direct courier account suits sellers who want one carrier relationship.
When does Shiprocket release the COD amount?
Shiprocket's most recent support article (updated June 2024) says standard COD runs on a D+8 working-day cycle with payouts on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so expect it within about 10 working days of delivery. Older pages quoting 8 to 9 days or 12 to 17 days are out of date. Early COD can pay as early as two days after delivery for a fee, and Instant COD, for selected sellers, advances up to 70% the day after shipping for a fee of up to 5%.
How do I resolve a weight dispute in Shiprocket?
Open the Weight Discrepancy tab, pick the order and raise a dispute within 7 days (the terms say 7 working days), or the courier's weight is auto-accepted. Add the product category, subcategory, product URL and clear photos of the packed box showing all three dimensions. The amount is held during review, Shiprocket says a decision comes in 7 days at most, and each order can be disputed only once.
What are the best Shiprocket alternatives in India?
Shipway is the closest match, with a wallet model, 20+ couriers and rates advertised from ₹19 per 500g. NimbusPost, iThink Logistics and ClickPost are other aggregator or tracking options, and Delhivery One suits sellers who want to ship direct with one courier.
Who should use Shiprocket?
It suits Indian D2C brands, Shopify and WooCommerce stores, Instagram sellers and marketplace sellers who ship from a few to a few thousand parcels a month and want courier choice without separate contracts. Very large shippers with negotiated courier rates, or sellers who need fully published rate cards before signing up, may prefer direct contracts or other tools.
