Our verdict
Rank Math gives most WordPress sites everything they need for free, and PRO adds rank tracking and serious schema control for about €108 a year across all your own sites. Yoast Premium is the more polished choice for editorial teams, but costs more per site. Freelancers should budget for Business, and anyone wanting AI writing should add a Rank Math AI plan.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Rank Math?
More than 4 million WordPress sites now run Rank Math, and the plugin's WordPress.org listing holds a 4.8 rating from over 7,500 reviews. That popularity comes from a free version that gives away things Yoast still charges for, such as a redirect manager. The harder decision starts when you think about paying, so this review sets out rank math pro vs yoast premium features, the real euro prices behind the sale banners, and what changed with Content AI in 2026.
The team behind it works from Gurugram, India (the company's about page lists a team of 27+ and co-founders Bhanu Ahluwalia, Nimit Kashyap and Suraj Vibhute). For Indian site owners that is a pleasant detail, though it does not translate into rupee pricing, which we cover below.
Why Rank Math's free version covers most small sites
Install the plugin from WordPress.org and a setup wizard asks about your site type, connects Google Search Console and Analytics, and offers to import settings from any SEO plugin it detects. In one sitting, a typical blog ends up with titles and meta templates, XML sitemaps, breadcrumbs and default schema in place.
The free build also includes a redirection manager, a 404 monitor that logs broken URLs visitors hit, basic local SEO for a single business, WooCommerce SEO basics with product schema, and image alt text automation. Instant indexing through IndexNow is built in too, so new and updated URLs get pushed to Bing, Yandex, Seznam and Naver as soon as you publish. Google is not part of IndexNow; Rank Math offers a separate plugin for Google's Indexing API, which Google restricts to job posting and livestream pages.
For a personal blog, a portfolio or a local clinic with one address, the free version is enough. You pay when you want keyword tracking, more analytics history, advanced schema or client-site licences.
What the Rank Math PRO price looks like once the sale banner is gone
Prices on rankmath.com are shown in euros, and the page tends to advertise a lower first-year rate beside each plan. The figures below are the regular rates the page lists as renewal prices. All plans are billed yearly, before tax.
| Plan | Regular price | Billed per year | Sites | Tracked keywords |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | €0 | None | Unlimited | None |
| PRO | €8.99/mo | €107.88 | Unlimited personal sites | 500 |
| Business | €27.99/mo | €335.88 | 100 client sites | 10,000 |
| Agency | €64.99/mo | €779.88 | 500 client sites | 50,000 |
| Rank Math + WP Rocket | €13.99/mo | €167.88 | PRO on personal sites, WP Rocket on 1 site | 500 |
There is no monthly billing and no INR price. Checkout runs through FastSpring (cards, PayPal and Amazon Pay), so an Indian buyer pays the euro amount and the bank or PayPal does the conversion. As an approximate guide only, PRO's €107.88 is about ₹11,500 a year at the mid-October 2026 rate of roughly ₹106 per euro, before taxes and any card forex markup; the rupee figure will shift with the exchange rate. New purchases come with a 30-day money-back guarantee; renewals do not. Non-profits get 30% off the first year.
The licence detail matters more than the price. PRO covers unlimited sites you own, but not client sites. A freelancer handling even two client blogs needs Business, which is a jump from about €108 to €336 a year.
Rank Math PRO vs Yoast Premium features, line by line
Yoast SEO Premium costs $118.80 a year (ex VAT) for one website, with bulk discounts for more. Here is how the paid tiers compare on the things people actually use, based on both companies' product pages.
| Area | Rank Math PRO | Yoast SEO Premium |
|---|---|---|
| Price and sites | €107.88/yr, unlimited personal sites | $118.80/yr, one site |
| Redirects | Included even in the free plugin | Premium only, with CSV bulk import |
| Keyword optimisation | Multiple focus keywords per post | Up to five keyphrases with synonyms and word forms |
| Rank tracking | 500 keywords inside WordPress | Not included |
| Schema | Custom schema builder, import, templates with conditions | Automatic schema graph, less manual control |
| Local, video, news SEO | Included in PRO | Bundled with Premium |
| AI tools | Rank Math AI trial, then a separate plan | AI titles and meta descriptions, content planner |
| Support | 24/7 ticket support | 24/7 support plus Yoast SEO Academy |
Yoast's edge is polish and its readability analysis, which many editorial teams like. Per euro, Rank Math gives you more tools, especially the built-in rank tracker and the analytics integration that shows Search Console clicks and positions per post inside the dashboard.
Rank Math vs Yoast SEO for a blog that already ranks
If your site uses Yoast and traffic is fine, switching is optional. Both plugins output clean titles, canonicals and sitemaps, and neither will lift rankings on its own. The case for moving is cost and convenience: you drop a separate redirect plugin, get schema options Yoast does not expose, and stop paying per site.
Migration is handled by the setup wizard or by Status & Tools, then Import & Export, where a Yoast tab lets you pick what to bring over. The official knowledge base asks you to take a backup first and to avoid running two SEO plugins together. Yoast FAQ and HowTo blocks are converted with a separate Yoast Block Converter under Database Tools (Advanced Mode only), and that step cannot be undone. After import, spot-check a dozen posts for titles, canonicals and noindex settings before you deactivate Yoast for good.
Rank Math schema markup setup, from defaults to PRO templates
Schema is where the free and paid builds differ most. In free, you turn on the Schema module, pick a default type per post type under Titles & Meta (Article for posts, for example), and override it per post from the Schema tab in the editor sidebar. The free list runs from Article, Product and Recipe to Event, Course, Job Posting, Service, Software Application and Video, plus FAQ and HowTo blocks.
PRO adds the custom schema generator. You can build a type from scratch with nested properties, add several schema types to one page, import markup from a live URL or JSON-LD, and save it as a template applied by display conditions (say, every product in one category). A Code Validation tab shows the JSON-LD for checking in Google's Rich Results Test. The pricing page claims support for 840+ schema types, which really means anything on schema.org through the builder.
A practical tip for WooCommerce stores: set Product as the default for products, then use a template to add brand or shipping properties across a category instead of editing items one by one.
Rank Math Content AI credits are now monthly usage limits
Older reviews talk about Content AI credits, with figures like 5,000 credits on the entry plan. That model is gone. The current pricing page for Rank Math AI never uses the word credits; each plan instead has monthly limits per feature, and the page says all of them reset each month.
- Starter, €6.99/mo regular (€83.88/yr): 15 long-form articles, 500 SEO fixes, 100 RankBot assists, 50 alt texts, 1 brand tracked for AI visibility.
- Creator, €11.99/mo (€143.88/yr): 60 articles, 1,000 SEO fixes, 500 RankBot assists, 10 brands.
- Expert, €18.99/mo (€227.88/yr): unlimited articles and fixes under a fair usage policy, 50 brands.
Free users get a small monthly AI allowance, with no figure published. The main pricing page lists a 15-day AI trial with each paid SEO plan (Starter with PRO, Creator with Business, Expert with Agency), after which Rank Math AI is a separate purchase. So the true cost of PRO with Content AI is about €192 a year at regular rates, not €108. In August 2026 an AI agent replaced the old Content AI chat, and a later update added MCP tools that let AI assistants read 404 logs and sitemap status.
Is Rank Math heavy? Modules, data and licence terms
The plugin is modular. Each feature (schema, 404 monitor, redirections, local SEO, analytics) can be switched off from the dashboard, so a lean site loads only what it uses. The 404 monitor and analytics write to your database, so on busy sites keep the 404 log short and clear it now and then.
On privacy, the usage policy says anonymous usage tracking is opt-in and off by default. Search Console and Analytics data is fetched through Google's API and stored in your own WordPress database, not on Rank Math's servers. Connecting a Rank Math account does store your site URL in the member area. The plugin is GPLv3, and commercial use on your own business sites is fine on any plan; it is client work that needs a Business or Agency licence.
Fixing a Rank Math sitemap that returns a 404
This is the most common support question. The official fix order is short:
- Open Sitemap Settings, change the Links Per Sitemap number, save, then visit Settings, Permalinks and click Save Changes.
- Exclude sitemap_index.xml and its children from your caching plugin and any server cache.
- On Nginx, add the rewrite rules from Rank Math's knowledge base (your host can do it). On Apache, check the sitemap block in .htaccess.
- If server caching still serves an old copy, add the rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching filter set to false.
- Make sure the pages you expect are not set to noindex in the Advanced tab.
The catches: client licences, euro pricing and a second AI bill
- Prices are shown in euros, and the advertised first-year discounts make the renewal bill look like a price rise.
- The PRO licence excludes client sites, so freelancers hit Business pricing early.
- The number of modules and settings can confuse beginners; some tools hide behind Advanced Mode.
- No public status page is linked from the site, and free users get community forum help rather than ticket support.
- Content AI is a second subscription, not part of PRO.
Who should pick Rank Math, and the alternatives worth a look
Rank Math suits bloggers, affiliate sites, WooCommerce stores and Indian agencies that want local SEO, schema and a rank tracker inside WordPress without paying per site. Yoast SEO remains the safer choice for large editorial teams that value readability checks and a long track record. All in One SEO and SEOPress are the other serious options, and The SEO Framework suits people who want a very light plugin with fewer settings.
A sensible plan: install the free plugin on a staging copy, run the setup wizard and the Yoast import, check your sitemap and schema output, and only then decide whether 500 tracked keywords and the schema templates justify about €108 a year.

Rank Math FAQ
What is the Rank Math SEO plugin?
Rank Math is a WordPress SEO plugin made by a Gurugram-based team that handles titles, meta tags, sitemaps, schema, redirects and Search Console data from one dashboard. The free version is on WordPress.org with 4+ million active installs. Paid PRO, Business and Agency plans add rank tracking, advanced schema and client-site licences.
How much does Rank Math PRO cost?
PRO's regular price is €8.99 a month, billed yearly as €107.88 before tax, for unlimited personal sites. Business is €27.99 a month (€335.88 a year) for 100 client sites and Agency is €64.99 a month (€779.88 a year) for 500. The pricing page usually shows a lower first-year sale price, but renewals bill at these rates.
Is Rank Math free?
Yes. The core plugin is free and includes the setup wizard, sitemaps, schema for common types, a redirection manager, a 404 monitor, basic local SEO and IndexNow instant indexing. Rank tracking, the custom schema generator and longer analytics history need a paid plan.
How do I set up Rank Math step by step?
Install Rank Math SEO from Plugins, Add New, and let the setup wizard run. Choose your site type, connect Google Search Console and Analytics, import from any old SEO plugin, review sitemap and title settings, then pick default schema types under Titles & Meta. Finish by submitting sitemap_index.xml in Search Console.
Is the Rank Math SEO plugin safe and lightweight?
It is GPLv3 software with a 4.8 rating from over 7,500 WordPress.org reviews and regular updates. Features run as modules you can switch off, so a site loads only what it uses. Usage tracking is opt-in, and Google data is stored in your own database rather than on Rank Math's servers.
Rank Math vs Yoast SEO: which is better?
Rank Math gives more for the money, with redirects in the free version, a built-in rank tracker and unlimited personal sites on PRO. Yoast Premium costs $118.80 a year per site and is stronger on readability analysis and polish. For most solo site owners and small stores Rank Math is the better value; large editorial teams often prefer Yoast.
How do I migrate from Yoast to Rank Math?
Back up the site, then use the setup wizard or Status & Tools, Import & Export, and choose the Yoast tab to import settings and post data. Deactivate Yoast so two SEO plugins do not run together. Convert Yoast FAQ and HowTo blocks with the Yoast Block Converter in Database Tools, which cannot be reversed.
What are the best Rank Math alternatives?
Yoast SEO is the main alternative, followed by All in One SEO and SEOPress, which offer similar free and paid tiers. The SEO Framework is a lighter option with fewer settings. Choose based on which features you would pay for, such as redirects, schema control or rank tracking.
How do I fix a Rank Math sitemap that is not working?
First change the Links Per Sitemap value in Sitemap Settings and save, then re-save your permalinks. Exclude the sitemap from caching, add Rank Math's Nginx rewrite rules or check .htaccess on Apache, and confirm the pages are not set to noindex. If server caching persists, disable sitemap caching with the rank_math/sitemap/enable_caching filter.
Who is Rank Math best for?
It suits bloggers, affiliate marketers, WooCommerce stores and small agencies that want schema, local SEO and keyword tracking inside WordPress. PRO is good value if you run several of your own sites. Freelancers with client sites should budget for the Business plan.
