Our verdict

4.1out of 5

Elementor is still the easiest way to design a full WordPress site visually, and the free plugin is good enough to test properly before you pay. Most single-site owners should pick Advanced Solo at $84 a year. Agencies building many sites should compare Expert and One Agency against Divi's unlimited licence.

How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.

What is Elementor?

Elementor is one of the most installed page builders for WordPress, and buyers usually arrive with one question: Elementor Pro vs free what you get for the money, and is the free plugin already enough? This review answers that from Elementor's pricing page, its Pro feature page, its terms and the official WordPress.org listing, all checked on 16 October 2026.

On WordPress.org the free plugin is at version 4.3.5 with more than 10 million active installations. It needs WordPress 6.8 and PHP 7.4 or newer. Elementor Ltd was founded in 2016 by Yoni Luksenberg and Ariel Klikstein and is based in Ramat Gan, Israel. The core plugin is open source, and its GitHub repository is licensed under GPLv3.

What Elementor is and who it suits

Elementor swaps the default WordPress editing screen for a visual canvas. You drag widgets into a layout and see the live page as you work. Layouts now use flexbox containers instead of the old section and column model, giving cleaner markup and better mobile spacing.

It suits freelancers, small agencies, founders who edit their own landing pages and marketing teams that publish campaign pages often. Developers who prefer hand-written themes will be happier elsewhere.

Elementor Pro vs free what you get, feature by feature

The free plugin gives you the editor, a set of basic widgets, flexbox containers, responsive controls for desktop, tablet and mobile, entrance animations, global colours and fonts, and a library of free elementor templates. Elementor's Pro page lists 32 free widgets, while the WordPress.org listing claims more than 40, so the exact figure depends on what you count.

Pro turns Elementor into a full site builder. The main additions are:

  • Theme builder: design headers, footers, single posts, archives and 404 pages visually instead of relying on your theme. Essential includes it.
  • Form builder: a form widget with fields, actions and integrations. On Essential, submissions are not stored, so you rely on email notifications or an integration.
  • Popup builder: exit-intent, scroll and click popups with display rules. Advanced Solo and above only.
  • WooCommerce builder: Elementor says it has 20-plus shop widgets for product pages, cart, checkout and My Account. Advanced Solo and above only.
  • Dynamic content: pull post titles, authors and other fields into a design. Custom fields and custom post types need Advanced Solo or higher.
  • Loop Grid and Loop Carousel for custom post listings, plus Slides, Price Table, Countdown and other marketing widgets.
  • Motion effects such as scroll and mouse-track effects, and, from Advanced Solo up, custom CSS and code.

The plan cards count 57 Editor Pro widgets on Essential and 85 on every higher tier. The lists lower on that page add up a little differently, so treat these as a guide. The short version: the free plugin builds pages, and Pro builds the whole site, including templates, shops and lead capture.

Elementor Pro price and plans in 2026

Elementor's pricing page shows four Editor Pro plans and two Elementor One bundles, all billed yearly in US dollars. The live page loads its amounts by script, so the figures below come from two reviews dated 21 July and 29 September 2026 that quote it; both match the page's "starting from $60/year" line.

PlanSitesPriceKey extras
Essential1$60/yrTheme Builder, forms (no submissions), 10 cloud templates
Advanced Solo1$84/yrPopups, WooCommerce widgets, custom code, 20 cloud templates
Advanced3$108/yrAdvanced Solo features, 30 cloud templates
Expert25$204/yrAdvanced Solo features, 5,000 cloud templates
Elementor One1$180 first year, $228 renewalEditor Pro plus 25,000 monthly credits, 30 cloud templates
One AgencyUnlimited$432 first year, $540 renewal350,000 monthly credits, 50,000 cloud templates

Both reviews say the Editor Pro plans renew at the same price, while the One bundles start with a discount and then renew at list price. Every subscription renews automatically, and the pricing page notes that its prices exclude taxes. The 30-day money-back guarantee applies to annual plans only.

There is no INR price. Indian buyers pay in dollars with an international card, so $60 comes to roughly ₹5,000 or a little more a year, depending on the exchange rate and your bank's forex fee.

Which plan makes sense for you

Most single-site owners should start with Advanced Solo at $84. Essential leaves out popups, WooCommerce widgets, custom code and stored form submissions, which are the reasons most people buy Pro.

A freelancer with two or three clients gets better value from Advanced ($108 for three sites) than from separate Solo licences. Agencies with more than three sites should compare Expert at $204 for 25 sites against One Agency, which costs more but covers unlimited sites and adds the credit-based services. Pick One only if you will use its credit-based tools every month.

Can one Pro licence cover several sites?

Only up to the number your plan allows. Essential, Advanced Solo and One cover one site each, Advanced covers three, Expert covers 25 and One Agency has no site cap. The terms are blunt here: share the key or activate it on more sites than you paid for and it will be blocked. On One Agency, the pricing FAQ says credits can be spent across any of your client sites.

Elementor AI and the One credit system

Elementor AI writes and edits copy, generates images and layouts, and produces code snippets inside the editor. On the current pricing page these tools sit inside Elementor One and are paid for with monthly credits. One AI action costs between 1 and 40 credits depending on the task, an optimised image costs 10, an email delivery costs 10 and an AI accessibility fix costs 20. Unused credits do not roll over, and Elementor says the credit cost per action may change.

Separately, Elementor sells Angie, an agent-style assistant that can create assets across a WordPress site. It has a free plan with daily credits.

Elementor hosting

Elementor hosting, branded Elementor Host, is a separate managed WordPress product. The hosting page says it runs on Google Cloud C2 machines behind the Cloudflare Enterprise CDN, and every plan carries a 30-day money-back guarantee. Tiers run from single-site Host Cloud plans up to 25 sites, plus an enterprise option. Prices were not shown when we checked, and One does not include hosting. Many Indian users pair Elementor with a cheaper local host instead.

How to create a popup in Elementor

You need Pro on Advanced Solo or higher. In the WordPress dashboard, open Templates, then Popups, and add a new one. Design it in the normal editor, then publish and set three things: conditions (which pages it appears on), triggers (page load, scroll depth, click or exit intent) and advanced rules (for example, hide it from logged-in users). To open a popup from a button, set the button link through the dynamic tags menu to a popup action.

Elementor vs Divi

Divi, from Elegant Themes, costs $89 a year or $249 once for lifetime access, and both cover unlimited sites. Divi Pro, with cloud and AI services, is $277 a year. Divi 5, a rebuilt and faster editor, was scheduled for official release in February 2026.

For agencies, that beats paying Elementor per site. Elementor wins on add-ons, tutorials and hiring, since almost every WordPress freelancer in India already knows it. If clients will edit their own pages after launch, that familiarity matters more than licence cost.

Elementor vs Gutenberg

Gutenberg, the block editor built into WordPress, is free and ships less code. Elementor is easier for non-technical users who want pixel control, popups and forms in one place. Blogs usually run better on Gutenberg; marketing sites with many landing pages get built faster in Elementor.

Bricks, Beaver Builder and other alternatives

Bricks is a theme, popular with developers for its clean output. Beaver Builder has a long record for stability and light pages, and its higher tiers allow unlimited sites, but its module library is smaller. We have not quoted prices for either because we could not confirm current figures from their official pages.

Does Elementor slow down WordPress?

Elementor adds CSS and JavaScript to every page, so a carelessly built Elementor page is usually heavier than a Gutenberg one. Keep widgets lean, skip stacked add-on packs, and use caching and decent hosting; most well-built sites can then pass Core Web Vitals.

Elementor Pro nulled risks

"Nulled" copies of Elementor Pro circulate on download sites and file-sharing groups. The GPL makes redistribution legal in principle, but these files are often altered to carry backdoors or malware. You also lose updates, security patches and support. Cleaning up one hacked client site costs far more than an $84 licence.

Support and help

The help centre offers guides, videos, a community space and a 24/7 virtual assistant. Standard support runs during business hours on weekdays. Faster help is sold separately as Priority Support in three tiers (Express, Express+ and Shield) with 24/7 replies over chat and email, and WhatsApp on the upper two. Elementor says there is no phone support.

Privacy, data and commercial use

Elementor's terms (last updated April 2026) say you own the content you create with its software and services, and that AI features come as is, with no promise of accuracy. The privacy policy, updated May 2026, lists AI and machine learning improvement among its uses of data, and the terms allow aggregated, de-identified data to be used for AI model training. You may use Template Library designs on your own and client sites, but you may not resell them as templates.

Limitations to know before paying

  • No INR pricing, and listed prices exclude taxes.
  • Per-site licensing costs agencies more than Divi's unlimited plans.
  • One credits expire each month and One renews at a higher price.
  • Leaving later is painful, because layouts are stored as Elementor data rather than plain blocks.

How to get started

Install the free plugin from Plugins, Add New in WordPress, then open any page with "Edit with Elementor". Build one real page before buying anything. If you then need a custom header, popups or a WooCommerce product template, buy Pro, upload the Pro plugin and connect your licence. If the editor will not load, raise the PHP memory limit, switch on Safe Mode from Elementor's Tools screen to rule out plugin and theme conflicts, and clear every cache.

Start free, and pay only when you hit a Pro feature you will use every week.

Elementor FAQ

Is Elementor free?

Yes. The core Elementor plugin is free on WordPress.org and has more than 10 million active installs. It includes the drag-and-drop editor, a set of basic widgets, flexbox containers and free templates. Theme building, popups, the Pro form widget and WooCommerce widgets need Elementor Pro.

How much does Elementor Pro cost?

Editor Pro starts at $60 a year for one site (Essential). Advanced Solo is $84 for one site, Advanced is $108 for three sites and Expert is $204 for 25 sites, and dated reviews quoting the pricing page say these renew at the same price. Elementor One costs $180 in the first year and $228 on renewal. Prices are in USD and exclude taxes.

What features are in the Elementor free version?

The free version includes the visual editor, basic widgets such as heading, image, button, video and tabs, flexbox containers, responsive controls, entrance animations and global colours and fonts. Elementor's Pro page lists 32 free widgets, while WordPress.org claims more than 40. You also get free templates, which is enough for simple sites and landing pages.

How do you create a popup in Elementor?

Popups need Elementor Pro on Advanced Solo or higher. Go to Templates, Popups, add a new popup and design it in the editor. On publishing, set display conditions, triggers such as scroll depth or exit intent, and advanced rules. You can also open a popup from a button by linking it to a popup action through dynamic tags.

Does Elementor slow down WordPress?

Elementor adds extra CSS and JavaScript, so it is heavier than the plain block editor. Recent versions with flexbox containers and optimised asset loading reduce that overhead. With caching, decent hosting and restraint on add-on plugins, most Elementor sites can pass Core Web Vitals.

Elementor vs Divi vs Bricks: which should you pick?

Elementor is the easiest of the three to learn and has the largest add-on and tutorial base. Divi offers unlimited sites for $89 a year or $249 for lifetime access, which suits agencies on a budget. Bricks is a theme favoured by developers for cleaner code, but clients may find it harder to edit.

Elementor vs Beaver Builder: what is the difference?

Beaver Builder is known for stability and light output, and its higher tiers allow unlimited sites. Elementor has a larger widget library, a built-in popup builder on Advanced Solo and above, AI tools through Elementor One and a much bigger ecosystem of templates and add-ons. Beaver Builder suits cautious agencies; Elementor suits teams that want more design options.

Does an Elementor Pro license work on multiple sites?

Only as many as your plan covers. Essential and Advanced Solo cover one site, Advanced covers three, Expert covers 25 and One Agency covers unlimited sites. Elementor's terms say using a key on more sites than you paid for can get it blocked.

What are the best Elementor alternatives?

The main alternatives are Gutenberg (free and built into WordPress), Divi, Bricks and Beaver Builder. Gutenberg is best for fast content sites, Divi for unlimited-site value, Bricks for developers and Beaver Builder for stability. Hosted builders like Wix or Webflow are options if you do not need WordPress.

How do you fix the Elementor editor not loading?

Raise the PHP memory limit, since low memory is a common cause. Then turn on Safe Mode from Elementor's Tools screen to rule out plugin or theme conflicts, update WordPress, Elementor and PHP, and clear server and browser caches. If it still fails, check the browser console for errors and contact support.
