What is Printify?

On 17 February 2026 Printify moved its monthly Premium subscription from $29 to $39, while leaving the annual plan at $299. That change matters more than any feature list, because the whole case for paying rests on one sum: does a discount of up to 20% on most catalog products earn back $39 a month? Printify (started in 2015; its About page credits James Berdigans as founder) is a middleman between your store and a network of independent printing companies. You upload a design, place it on a blank such as a Gildan 5000 tee, publish it to Etsy, Shopify, eBay or a handful of other channels, and the order is printed and shipped by a partner factory only after a customer pays. You never hold stock. The company says more than 10 million merchants have signed up and that its catalogue holds 2,000+ products.

Why the base cost of a tee is the number to watch

Printify does not charge listing or platform fees. It earns a margin inside the fulfilment price you pay per order. Your profit is the retail price minus that base cost, shipping, taxes and your store's own fees. Everything on this page comes back to that base cost, because it is the figure Premium cuts and the figure that differs from one factory to the next.

Printify print providers quality: one listing, many factories

The same Bella+Canvas 3001 can be printed by several partners, and the pricing page counts 70+ print providers working out of 140+ facilities. The help centre is frank that providers differ on price, shipping rates, print area, available colours, equipment and even colour output, since each one tunes its own machines. To help you choose, each provider carries a Performance Score built from three areas: Quality, Production Speed, and Samples & Shipping.

In practice this means quality is a choice you make, not a promise Printify makes on your behalf. The cheapest provider for a hoodie may sit in another region and add days to delivery. A sensible habit is to filter the printify product catalog by your main market first, then compare the two or three local providers by score and base price. Printify's merchant protection covers manufacturing errors with a free reprint or refund within 30 days, which limits the damage when a batch comes out badly.

Printify Premium plan price after the February 2026 rise

Here is what each tier costs according to printify.com/pricing and the help article on the 2026 change. INR figures are approximate conversions at ₹94.7 per US dollar; Printify bills cards in USD, EUR, CAD, GBP or AUD, not rupees.

The 20% product discount is a standing part of the plan, not a seasonal offer, and it applies automatically. A rough break-even, using a hypothetical tee with a base cost near $9: the full 20% cut saves about $1.80 a shirt, so the monthly plan pays for itself at roughly 22 shirts a month, and the yearly plan (about $25 a month) at around 14. Premium is non-refundable, so cancel before the renewal date if you change your mind. One catch for Shopify-billed subscribers: Shopify asked them to approve the new $39 charge, and accounts that did not approve were moved down to the Free plan. The Shopify App Store listing shows the annual price as $299.88 rather than $299, which matches the "$24.99 a month billed yearly" figure on Printify's own pricing page.

Printify free plan limits: five stores, full price, no fee

The Free plan is not a trial. You can connect up to five stores, publish as many designs as you like, use the mockup tools, order samples and get the same round-the-clock merchant support. What you give up is the discount, the Premium-only AI Mockups, and Printify Connect, which lets support step in on eligible order problems. Downgrading never removes a sales channel. You simply pay standard base prices again. For a shop selling under 15 items a month, staying free is usually the cheaper route.

Samples are not free on any plan. The help centre says sample orders are charged at regular pricing; Premium members see their discounted base price, but no extra sample discount applies. A printify order sample is placed from the Orders tab with "Create order" and then "Sample", and it ships to your account address by default.

Printify vs Printful, with Gelato as the third option

Printful runs its own production centres, while Printify routes work to partners. The two merged under a parent company called Fyul at the start of 2025, but they still trade as separate brands with different production models, and that difference shows up in the numbers each one publishes.

Its Growth membership costs $24.99 a month (≈ ₹2,367), comes with a 14-day trial, turns free for a year once your sales reach $12K in a year, and gives up to 33% off products plus 25% off samples. • Gelato (gelato.com subscription page): free plan limited to 2 stores and 2 users. Gelato+ costs $29.99 a month (≈ ₹2,840) or $19.99 a month billed yearly (≈ ₹1,893), with up to 33% off products and 800+ premium mockups.
• Printify: free plan with 5 stores; Premium at $39 a month or $299 a year, with up to 20% off most products.

Printify usually wins on raw base price and on choice of factory. Printful gives you tighter control over quality because one company owns the presses, and it has more branding add-ons. Gelato is built around printing close to the buyer across many countries. If you sell mainly to Indian customers, a domestic print-on-demand service that bills in rupees may beat all three on shipping cost.

Linking Etsy and Shopify to Printify

The printify etsy integration takes about a minute. Go to the store menu, choose "Manage my stores", click Connect and pick Etsy, sign in, then press "Grant access". Finish opening your Etsy shop before you do this, because a half-set-up shop throws you to a different page. A store can link to only one Printify account at a time, and Etsy's rules require you to name Printify as your production partner on listings. Sellers on Etsy Pattern have to tick the Pattern box per product, as it is off by default.

The printify shopify app is listed on the Shopify App Store with a 4.7 rating from more than 4,300 reviews. It is free to install, and product and shipping costs are charged only when a sale comes in. Printify also connects to eBay, Wix, Squarespace, TikTok and Amazon according to that listing, and developers get a REST API with personal access tokens or OAuth 2.0, webhooks, and a global limit of 600 requests a minute.

What holds up a Printify order

Printify's help centre says most orders ship within 2 to 7 business days of being submitted, and standard production cannot be sped up. Orders stall for predictable reasons: the factory runs out of a blank and must reorder, an item fails quality checks and gets reprinted, the order contains 12 or more items, or the holiday rush stretches every queue. Each order shows an estimated ship-by date based on the previous 14 days, and support asks you to get in touch if nothing has shipped after 7 business days.

Printify Express Delivery is the fix for US buyers. It targets 2 to 3 working days for production plus delivery, covers the US mainland only (not Alaska, Hawaii or PO boxes), and is limited to front-print Bella+Canvas 3001 and Gildan 5000 tees. It costs $7.99 for the first item plus $2.40 per extra item, and Printify says the window is a target, not a guarantee.

Selling from India through Printify

Printify's help centre does not bar Indian sellers from the core service. India is absent from its list of countries Printify cannot ship to (that list covers places such as Cuba, Iran, Russia and Syria), and the only seller-location rule we found applies to the Pop-Up Store. For printify international shipping, rates and carriers vary by provider and are listed on the Shipping Rates page. Three limits apply to Indian sellers. Premium is billed in USD, EUR, CAD, GBP or AUD, never rupees, so your card must allow international payments. The printify pop-up store, a hosted storefront that pays out through Stripe, is open only to merchants based in an approved list of 37 countries, and India is not on it. And Express Delivery serves only US customers. For a store aimed at Indian buyers, check each provider's shipping rate to India before you list a product, since most capacity sits in the US and Europe.

Printify print on demand review and pricing: who gains from paying

Printify suits Etsy and Shopify sellers who sell mostly to the US, UK or EU, want the lowest base cost, and are happy to compare factories themselves. It is a good starter platform because the Free plan has no time limit. It is less suited to sellers who want premium branded packaging on every parcel, or to brands that need one factory's consistent colour across all products. On the legitimacy question, Printify is a long-running, venture-backed business (its About page lists Index Ventures and H&M Group among investors) that now sits under Fyul alongside Printful, and its 30-day reprint policy gives you a recourse when prints are faulty.

Copyright stays your responsibility. On every channel, including the Pop-Up Store, you must hold the rights to the artwork you upload.

A sensible first fortnight on the Free plan

• Pick three products from the catalogue and use the printify mockup generator in Product Creator to build listings.
• Order samples of each from two different providers and compare print sharpness, colour and fabric weight.
• Connect one store, publish, and watch the ship-by dates on your first ten orders.
• Count your monthly units. Once you pass about 20 tees, run the numbers on printify premium again.
