Our verdict

3.9out of 5

Pipedrive is the CRM sellers are least likely to abandon: a clear pipeline, firm follow-up habits and an entry price of $14 per seat on annual billing. Budget for add-ons and dollar billing, and pick HubSpot or Zoho CRM instead if you need a free plan or heavier marketing automation.

How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.

What is Pipedrive?

Pipedrive says more than 100,000 companies use it, and almost every user opens the app to the same view: columns of deal cards that move left to right as a sale progresses. This Pipedrive CRM pricing and features review explains what that design does well, what each of the four per-seat plans costs, which modules are sold as add-ons, and how the Estonian-founded product compares with HubSpot, Zoho CRM and Freshsales for teams in India.

Picture a six-person agency with forty open proposals

Take a design studio in Pune. Enquiries come from the website, LinkedIn and referrals, and each one passes through Contacted, Brief received, Proposal sent and Negotiation. On a spreadsheet, nobody can tell which proposal went silent a fortnight ago. Pipedrive's visual sales pipeline is built for exactly this. Each deal is a card carrying a value, an owner and a next step, and you can reshape the stages to mirror how your studio really sells.

The method behind the board is blunt: never leave a deal without a scheduled activity. Calls, meetings, emails and tasks hang off the card, and activity reminders prompt the owner on the day. Founders who have chased reps about forgotten follow-ups usually value this more than any chart. Managers still get win rates, stage conversion and forecasts, drawn from the same records, so nobody fills in a Friday report by hand.

What a Pipedrive CRM pricing and features review can confirm today

Pipedrive charges per seat, and its billing help article adds that a seat is charged whether or not anyone is assigned to it. The four tiers, Lite, Growth, Premium and Ultimate, replaced the older plans: according to Pipedrive's "What's new in Pipedrive plans?" article, Essential became Lite, Advanced became Growth, Professional and Power merged into Premium, and Enterprise became Ultimate.

The official pricing page quotes US dollars per seat per month on annual billing, excluding VAT. A toggle switches to monthly billing, and the page says paying yearly saves up to 42%. The monthly-billed rates did not appear in the page text we could read, so check that toggle before you commit.

PlanPer seat, billed annuallyYearly payment per seatWhat it adds
Lite$14/mo$168Pipeline, lead and calendar management, AI report creation, meeting intelligence
Growth$39/mo$468Full email sync with tracking, automations and nurturing sequences, forecast reports, meeting scheduler
Premium$59/mo$708LeadBooster, Projects and Smart Docs included, lead scoring, data enrichment, contracts and e-signatures
Ultimate$79/mo$948Security alerts and access restrictions, phone and email enrichment, a sandbox account, extended phone support

Annual billing is paid upfront. A ten-seat team on Growth therefore pays $4,680 in one go, before add-ons or tax, and a yearly commitment is harder to unwind than a monthly one.

Pipedrive Lite vs Growth vs Premium vs Ultimate: choosing a tier

Each step up adds automation depth, reporting, permissions and higher limits. Pipedrive publishes the exact split in a help article titled "What features do the Pipedrive plans have?", and that grid matters more than the plan names.

  • Lite is the base: the pipeline board, deals, people, organisations, activities, spreadsheet import and the phone apps. A two-person shop with a few dozen live deals can work here.
  • Growth is where many small sales teams settle, because Pipedrive workflow automation takes over repetitive clicks: create a follow-up task when a deal reaches a stage, send a template email, alert a manager when a large deal moves. The help centre keeps a library of ready-made automation templates.
  • Premium, the tier Pipedrive marks as most popular, fits teams that want lead capture, scoring and e-signatures without buying modules one by one.
  • Ultimate is for bigger teams or clients with stricter security demands, and it adds weekday phone support with longer hours.

Read the limits column (custom fields, automations, reports) before you commit. One missing automation can force a jump to the next tier mid-year.

The add-ons that quietly raise the bill

The seat price covers the CRM itself. Five modules carry their own "starting from" price on the pricing page, with no billing period printed beside it; the billing help article says add-ons follow your plan's billing cycle.

  • Pipedrive LeadBooster, from $32.50, bundles a chatbot, live chat, Prospector and web forms. It is included at no extra cost on Premium and Ultimate.
  • Web Visitors, from $41, handles web visitors tracking: it shows which companies reached your site and which pages they read, so a seller can call while interest is fresh. It is paid on every plan.
  • Pipedrive Campaigns, from $13.33, sends newsletters to contacts already in the CRM and records opens and clicks against each person. It is also paid on every plan.
  • Smart Docs, from $32.50, builds proposals and other sales documents tied to the deal. Premium and Ultimate include it.
  • Projects by Pipedrive, from $16.66, turns a won deal into a delivery board, useful for agencies handing work from sales to production. Premium and Ultimate include it too.

A Growth team that wants LeadBooster and Smart Docs adds $65 in starting prices. Set that against the $20 per seat it costs to move up to Premium, where both come bundled, and run the sum for your own headcount.

Planning the Pipedrive free trial so it answers a real question

The pricing page offers a free 14-day trial with no credit card required, and there is no permanent free tier. Two weeks goes quickly, so plan it. Import real contacts on the first day, rebuild your actual stages, connect one mailbox and ask two sellers to work only inside Pipedrive for a week. If they slide back to the spreadsheet, that tells you more than any feature list.

Moving data across from Excel is simple. Pipedrive's import tool accepts XLSX and CSV files. Pick whether each row is a deal, a person or an organisation, then map columns to fields. Clean duplicates and phone formats beforehand, because the importer creates records exactly as you give them.

Pipedrive AI, the sales assistant and the new MCP server

Pipedrive's AI work started with its sales assistant, which watches your data, recommends next steps and points at deals that need attention. Both the sales assistant and the wider Pipedrive AI tools have their own help-centre articles. More recently Pipedrive announced a native MCP server, which lets AI assistants that support the protocol read and act on CRM data. Treat all of this as a time saver, not a substitute for a sales process, and check the plan grid for which AI features your tier includes.

Pipedrive vs HubSpot CRM for a team leaving spreadsheets

HubSpot's draw is a free CRM for up to 2 users and 1,000 contacts. Sales Hub Starter costs $20 per seat a month. Professional is $90 per seat billed annually, or $100 paid monthly on an annual commitment, plus a required $1,500 onboarding fee, and Enterprise is $150 per seat with $3,500 onboarding. Pipedrive's Premium, at $59 on annual billing, undercuts HubSpot Professional before that fee is even counted. It also feels lighter in daily use, with fewer menus and a board most reps grasp in their first session. Choose HubSpot if marketing content, forms and sales must live in one database. Choose Pipedrive if the job is mostly moving deals and you would rather not pay for marketing software you will not open.

Pipedrive vs Zoho CRM when the budget is in rupees

Zoho CRM is tough to beat on price for Indian firms. It offers a free edition for 3 users and paid editions priced in rupees, with Standard at ₹800, Professional at ₹1,400, Enterprise at ₹2,400 and Ultimate at ₹2,600 per user per month, all excluding GST. It also fits more automation and customisation into each tier. The trade-off is a busier interface that takes longer to configure. Pipedrive wins on focus and adoption. Pipedrive's pricing page shows only US dollars, and its billing article says your location decides the billing currency and payment methods. We found no INR price list, so ask Pipedrive which currency an Indian account is billed in, and ask your accountant how GST applies to imported software.

Freshsales, from Chennai-founded Freshworks, sits between the two: it keeps a free tier with no time limit and builds phone, chat and email into the product. It suits call-heavy inside sales better, while Pipedrive suits teams that sell through meetings and proposals.

Connecting the rest of your stack

The Pipedrive Marketplace is where you add email, calendar, telephony, invoicing and form apps before reaching for custom code. Developers get the Pipedrive API, documented on developers.pipedrive.com with reference pages for deals, stages, products, notes, files and more, across v1 and v2 endpoints. Agencies building client dashboards or syncing won deals with a billing system will find the reference easy to follow.

Data, security and the limits you will hit

Pipedrive publishes a privacy notice, a data processing addendum for customers, a GDPR help article and a public Trust Center that collects its security material. Read those if a client asks where CRM data is held or how it is processed. Commercial use is the whole point of the product, so the practical limits are the ones in your plan grid.

The weak spots are easy to name. There is no free tier. Campaigns and Web Visitors cost extra on every plan, and lead capture is a paid module below Premium. Marketing automation is basic next to HubSpot or Zoho. Customisation runs shallower than Salesforce or Zoho, which matters if you need custom objects or complex approval flows.

A sensible first fortnight in Pipedrive

  • Day 1: start the 14-day trial, rename the default stages to match how you sell and import contacts from Excel.
  • Day 2: connect each seller's mailbox and calendar so emails and meetings attach to deals.
  • Day 3: build two automations, such as a follow-up task when a deal enters Proposal sent and an alert when a high-value deal moves.
  • Days 4 to 10: let the team work only in Pipedrive and note which deals stall.
  • Final days: review the reports, list the add-ons you genuinely missed and price the tier that covers them.

Small B2B teams of two to twenty sellers, agencies and founders doing their own selling get the most from Pipedrive. If you need a free CRM, heavy marketing automation or deep customisation, shortlist HubSpot, Zoho CRM or Salesforce first.

Pipedrive FAQ

What is Pipedrive?

Pipedrive is an Estonian-founded sales CRM that organises deals as cards on a visual pipeline and pushes sellers to schedule a next activity for every deal. The company says more than 100,000 companies use it, mostly small and mid-sized B2B teams.

Does Pipedrive have a free plan?

No. Pipedrive offers a free 14-day trial with no credit card required, after which you pick a paid plan. If you need a free CRM, HubSpot (2 users and 1,000 contacts), Zoho CRM (3 users) and Freshsales all have free tiers.

How much does Pipedrive cost per user?

On annual billing, Pipedrive's pricing page lists Lite at $14, Growth at $39, Premium at $59 and Ultimate at $79 per seat per month, excluding VAT. Monthly billing costs more, since the page says annual payment saves up to 42%. Add-ons such as Campaigns (from $13.33) and Web Visitors (from $41) are extra on every plan.

How do I set up a sales pipeline in Pipedrive?

Open the pipeline view, rename the default stages to match your real sales steps (for example Contacted, Proposal sent, Negotiation) and add or remove stages as needed. Then add deals with a value and owner, and schedule an activity on each one. You can create separate pipelines for different products or teams.

Is Pipedrive good for small teams?

Yes, small teams are its main audience. The interface is simple enough that sellers adopt it quickly, and Lite or Growth covers most needs for two to twenty users. The main drawback for very tight budgets is the lack of a free plan.

Pipedrive vs Freshsales: which is better?

Freshsales keeps a free tier with no time limit and builds phone, chat and email into the product, so it suits call-heavy inside sales. Pipedrive has no free plan but a cleaner pipeline and a larger app marketplace, which suits teams selling through meetings and proposals. Try both with real deals before paying.

Can I pay for Pipedrive in INR?

We found no INR price list. Pipedrive's pricing page shows US dollars only, and its billing help article says your location decides the billing currency and payment methods. Ask Pipedrive which currency your account will use, and ask your accountant how GST applies to imported software.

What are the best Pipedrive alternatives?

HubSpot CRM is the pick if you want a free CRM and marketing tools in the same database. Zoho CRM is the cheapest rupee-billed option with deeper customisation. Freshsales suits phone-led teams, and Salesforce fits large firms that need heavy customisation.

How do I import contacts from Excel into Pipedrive?

Save your sheet as XLSX or CSV, open the import tool in Pipedrive and upload the file. Choose whether the rows are people, organisations or deals, then map each column to a Pipedrive field. Remove duplicates and fix phone formats before importing, because the importer creates records exactly as given.

Who should use Pipedrive?

Pipedrive suits small B2B sales teams, agencies, consultants and founders who sell through a clear sequence of stages. It works best when the main goal is tracking deals and follow-ups rather than running marketing campaigns. Teams that need a free plan or complex custom objects should look elsewhere.
