Our verdict

4.1out of 5

Freshsales is one of the easier CRMs to put in front of a calling-heavy sales team, and Growth at $9 per user a month (billed annually) is a low entry price. Budget for Pro at $39 if you need scoring, sequences or territories. Rupee-focused teams should price Zoho CRM alongside it.

How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.

What is Freshsales?

Before Freshworks asks for a card, a small sales team can already be logging calls and emails in Freshsales, because Freshworks advertises a free version for up to three users. That makes it an easy first stop for an Indian startup before it prices Zoho or HubSpot. This review sets out freshsales crm pricing and free plan details as Freshworks published them in October 2026, what the paid Growth, Pro and Enterprise tiers add, where Freddy AI fits, and which questions to settle with Freshworks before the team grows.

A ten-rep calling team, and the sums to run first

Picture a Pune software company with ten inside sales reps phoning and emailing small-business leads. Its CRM bill has three parts: seat fees multiplied by headcount, the billing term, and usage extras such as AI sessions or call minutes. Only the first two appear on the price grid, so build a simple sheet with all three before you compare vendors.

Freshworks' US pricing page lists Growth at $9 per user a month, Pro at $39 and Enterprise at $59, each billed annually. Ten reps on Pro therefore cost $390 a month, or $4,680 a year, before tax. The page says yearly billing saves 20%, but the month-to-month rates could not be read for this review, so flip the toggle yourself before you sign.

Seats are rarely the whole story: a part-time founder who only reads dashboards may not need a paid login at all.

Freshsales CRM pricing and free plan, tier by tier

PlanPriceWhat it adds
Free$0Up to 3 users, per Freshworks' free CRM page; not shown as a card on the pricing page, so confirm at signup
Growth$9/user/month, billed annuallyKanban deal view, lifecycle stages, chat, email and phone, email templates, custom fields, basic workflows
Pro$39/user/month, billed annuallyContact scoring, deal insights, territory management, sales sequences, custom sales activities
Enterprise$59/user/month, billed annuallyForecasting insights, field-level permissions, custom modules, sandbox, audit logs

Paid plans can be tried for 21 days with full access. When the trial ends you choose a plan and pay by card, or the account is suspended. Two add-ons are offered on every tier: branded documents at $19 per user a month and the Freddy AI Agent at $49 per 100 sessions.

Rupee billing exists, since the payment FAQ says Amex and Discover cards are not accepted for INR while Visa and Mastercard are. The India pricing page would not load for this review, so check it for rupee rates. A registered Indian business also pays GST, currently 18% for software services, so the number on the grid is not the number on the invoice.

Freshsales free CRM limits worth testing early

The free version suits a founder plus a couple of sellers who mainly need one shared address book with a call and email history. Freshworks' free CRM page caps it at three users and describes engagement over email, phone, chat and SMS, while automation, AI contact scoring and advanced customisation are kept for premium plans. No expiry date is mentioned.

Find the ceiling before you commit data. Check what happens when a fourth person joins: on most per-seat CRMs the plan applies across the whole account, so one extra user can mean paying for everyone. Also note that the free tier did not appear as a plan card on the pricing page in October 2026, so confirm it is still available when you sign up.

Freshsales Growth vs Pro vs Enterprise price: what each step buys

Growth is the entry paid tier, and for a five-person desk doing basic outbound it covers the daily routine: a Kanban deal board, contact lifecycle stages, built-in chat, email and phone, templates, custom fields and basic workflows.

Pro costs more than four times as much per seat, and it is where the sales-process tools live. Contact scoring, deal insights, Freshsales sequences and Freshsales territories with territory management all start here, along with custom sales activities. A company with a North India team and a South India team, each with its own manager, is the typical Pro buyer, as is any team that wants automated multi-step follow-ups.

Enterprise is for admins who must protect a shared setup. Custom modules let you model warranties, projects or property listings beside deals. Field-level permissions, audit logs and a sandbox matter once fifty people depend on the fields an admin edits, and forecasting insights serve sales heads who report numbers upward. Most teams under 25 seats can wait.

Where Freddy AI earns its keep, and where it does not

Freddy AI is the name Freshworks gives to the AI features across its products. In Freshsales the most practical use is contact scoring, which ranks leads so reps know whom to call first. Deal insights aim to flag opportunities that are going quiet. Both sit on Pro and above, not on Growth.

Two cautions. First, the Freddy AI Agent is billed separately at $49 per 100 sessions, the same pack price Freshdesk charges for extra AI Agent sessions; the Freshsales pricing page lists no Copilot add-on, so ask sales before budgeting for generative email help. Second, scoring needs history. A new account with 200 contacts gives a model little to learn from, so manual rules will serve better for the first few months.

Built-in phone, email tracking and sequences on one record

The strongest everyday argument for this CRM is that calling, email and chat happen inside it. With the built-in phone, a rep can dial from the contact record and the call lands on the timeline. The pricing page lists no phone credit add-on, so ask how virtual numbers and minutes are billed. A team making 80 calls a day per rep should get that figure in writing.

Email tracking shows when a prospect opens a message or clicks a link, and that activity sits next to call notes. Sequences chain emails and tasks over several days, so follow-ups go out without a rep keeping a spreadsheet of dates. Freshsales workflows cover rule-based chores: assign a lead by city, move a stage, send a template or create a follow-up task. For nurture journeys and landing pages, Freshworks sells Freshmarketer separately, and the Freshsales Suite name refers to the combined sales and marketing package.

Why the Freshworks CRM label still appears

In October 2020 Freshworks relaunched its sales and marketing CRM under the Freshworks CRM name, and TechCrunch covered the change at the time. It is sold as Freshsales again, but older help articles and connector listings still carry the old label, so treat both names as one product.

Setting up lead scoring before the first import

Score rules work best when they exist before data arrives. Contact scoring is listed from Pro upward, so a Growth account would track fit with custom fields instead. On Pro, a sensible order:

  • Write down what a good lead looks like for you: company size, city, job title and source.
  • Create scoring rules that add points for those fields and for engagement such as email opens, link clicks and site visits.
  • Take points away for weak signals, like a personal email domain or a bounced address.
  • Import contacts, then build a saved view sorted by score so reps start each morning at the top.
  • After a month, compare scores against deals actually won, and lean on Freddy AI scoring once enough closed history exists.

Connecting Gmail during rollout

Each rep links their own mailbox from the CRM's email settings, signing in with Google for Gmail or using the Outlook and IMAP options for other providers. Once connected, sent and received mail is matched to contacts and outgoing messages can be tracked. Check the help centre for the steps that apply to your account version.

A Chennai-born company and the security questions buyers ask

Freshworks began in Chennai in 2010 as Freshdesk, took the Freshworks name in 2017 and listed on Nasdaq in 2021. Its headquarters is in San Mateo, California, while much of its engineering stays in India. Freshsales launched in June 2016.

On data, Freshworks publishes a privacy notice, with the current version effective from 1 March 2026. If local storage matters to you, ask which hosting regions are open to a new Freshsales account before signing up, because hosting is normally fixed when the account is created. Enterprise adds field-level permissions and audit logs, and your IT lead should read the data processing terms before anyone imports customer phone numbers.

Freshsales vs Zoho CRM for rupee-budget teams

Zoho CRM is the price benchmark in India. Its pricing page lists a free edition for 3 users, with Standard at ₹800, Professional at ₹1,400, Enterprise at ₹2,400 and Ultimate at ₹2,600 per user per month, all excluding GST. Zoho also offers deeper customisation and sibling apps for finance and HR.

Freshsales makes its case on day-one usability: calling and email tracking work without a separate app, and the interface is simple enough that reps need little training. Pick Zoho if budget and customisation lead the list; pick Freshsales if adoption by non-technical sellers is the bigger risk. Get Freshworks' rupee quote before comparing the two line by line.

Freshsales vs HubSpot once you need sequences

HubSpot's free CRM covers 2 users and 1,000 contacts. Its pricing page lists Sales Hub Starter at $20 per seat a month with no onboarding fee, and Professional at $90 per seat billed annually, or $100 paid monthly on an annual commitment, plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee. Enterprise is $150 per seat with $3,500 onboarding. Sequences live in Professional, so five reps pay $5,400 in seats plus $1,500 onboarding in year one, against $2,340 for five Freshsales Pro seats. HubSpot is the stronger buy when marketing and sales must share one database; Freshsales suits a sales-led team that lives on the phone.

Pipedrive or Freshsales for a five-person shop

Pipedrive is built around a visual pipeline and is quick to learn. It has no free plan, only a trial, and its pricing page lists the Lite plan at $14 per seat a month, billed annually. Freshsales lets a small team start at no cost and keeps phone, chat and email in the base product. For a small agency that mostly moves deals across stages, Pipedrive feels lighter; for a team doing outbound calling, price both with phone costs included.

Gaps that appear after the first quarter

  • Contact scoring, sequences and territories start on Pro, so wanting any one of them means a jump from $9 to $39 per user.
  • Freddy AI Agent sessions are billed on top of seats, and phone minutes may be too; confirm before signing.
  • Marketing automation needs Freshmarketer or the Suite bundle.
  • Custom modules and field-level permissions are Enterprise-only.

Other names worth a trial include Zoho CRM, HubSpot, Pipedrive, LeadSquared for high-volume Indian inside sales, and Salesforce for complex enterprise setups.

A practical first week: open an account with your two most active sellers, connect their Gmail, import a few hundred real contacts and use the 21-day trial to run a single Pro sequence. If reps are logging calls without being chased, the tool fits. Freshsales suits small and mid-sized sales teams that want calling and email in one place; firms needing heavy custom objects on a tight budget should look harder at Zoho.

Freshsales FAQ

What is Freshsales?

Freshsales is the sales CRM from Freshworks, launched in 2016. It manages contacts, accounts and deals and includes a built-in phone, email with tracking and website chat. Freddy AI contact scoring and deal insights are part of the Pro and Enterprise plans.

Is Freshsales CRM free?

Freshworks' free CRM page offers a free version for up to three users with email, phone, chat and SMS engagement, and no expiry is mentioned. The free tier is not shown as a plan card on the pricing page, so confirm it at signup. Paid plans also come with a 21-day trial with full access.

How much does Freshsales cost in India?

Freshworks' pricing page lists Growth at $9, Pro at $39 and Enterprise at $59 per user a month, billed annually, with annual billing saving 20% over monthly. INR payments are accepted, but the India rate card could not be read for this review, so check Freshworks' India pricing page and add 18% GST for a registered Indian business.

How do you set up lead scoring in Freshsales?

Contact scoring is a Pro and Enterprise feature. Create rules that add points for fit (company size, title, city) and engagement (email opens, clicks, visits) and subtract points for weak signals, then build a saved view sorted by score. Once you have enough closed deals, Freddy AI scoring becomes more useful; Freshworks' help centre shows where the settings sit.

Is Freshsales secure?

Freshworks publishes a privacy notice, with the current version effective from 1 March 2026. Ask which hosting regions, such as India, are open to a new Freshsales account, and note that field-level permissions and audit logs are Enterprise features. Read the data processing terms before importing customer data.

Freshsales vs Pipedrive: which is better for a small business?

Freshsales has a free version for up to three users and includes calling, email tracking and chat, with Growth at $9 per user a month billed annually. Pipedrive has no free plan, only a trial, and Lite officially costs $14 per seat a month billed annually, but its pipeline view is very easy to learn. Calling-heavy teams should price both with phone costs included.

Is Freshsales made in India?

Freshsales comes from Freshworks, which was founded in Chennai in 2010 as Freshdesk. The company is now headquartered in San Mateo, California, and listed on Nasdaq since 2021, with a large engineering base still in India.

What are the best Freshsales alternatives?

Zoho CRM is the cheapest rupee-billed option, HubSpot suits teams that want marketing and sales in one database, and Pipedrive is the simplest pipeline tool. LeadSquared fits high-volume Indian inside sales, and Salesforce suits complex enterprise needs.

How do you connect Freshsales with Gmail?

Each user opens the email settings in the CRM and signs in with Google to connect Gmail; Outlook and IMAP mailboxes are also supported. Freshsales then matches mail to contacts and can track opens and clicks. The help centre has the current steps for your account version.

Who is Freshsales best for?

It suits small and mid-sized sales teams, especially inside sales and outbound teams, that want phone, email and chat inside the CRM without extra tools. Larger firms needing deep custom objects or tight budgets with heavy customisation may prefer Salesforce or Zoho.
