Our verdict

3.6out of 5

GoDaddy's classic builder is a cheap, quick way for an Indian small business to get a site with booking and email marketing, billed in rupees. Airo AI Builder is worth a free try and lets you download your project code, but its paid tiers cost more. The real catch on the classic side is lock-in, since it has no export to another host.

What is GoDaddy Website Builder?

GoDaddy now sells two different site builders on its India store, and the one on the landing page is not the one most older reviews describe. The landing page pushes Airo AI Builder, which starts free with 50 AI credits a month and no card. A separate plan page still lists the classic builder at ₹249, ₹599 and ₹899 a month. This godaddy website builder review and pricing guide separates the two, using GoDaddy's India plan pages, its help centre and its legal pages as they stood on 21 October 2026.

Two products under one name: classic builder and Airo

The classic builder (GoDaddy's help centre still calls it Websites + Marketing) is the template product that has existed for years. You pick a design, change text and images, and add sections. GoDaddy's India pages describe it as templates plus "easy to use editing tools". They do not promise a free-form drag and drop editor of the kind Wix offers, so expect to work inside preset section layouts.

Airo AI Builder is newer and works differently. You describe what you want in a chat and the AI writes the site or a small web app, with a built-in database and backend according to GoDaddy's FAQ. You can then edit the code, connect services such as Stripe through prompts, and publish. It is closer to tools like Lovable or Hostinger Horizons than to a template editor.

Both run under GoDaddy Inc., the Tempe, Arizona company founded in 1997, which says it has more than 20 million customers. GoDaddy's public status page tracks Website Builder, Online Store Builder, GoDaddy Airo and the Airo AI App Builder as separate services.

GoDaddy website builder price in India, plan by plan

The classic plans are priced in rupees on the India plan page. The figures below sit under the flexible monthly-term option and carry no strike-through or sale tag. Each card also shows a badge for annual billing (save 66% on Basic, 57% on Premium, 40% on Commerce), but the page prints neither the annual rate nor what it renews at, so only the monthly figures appear here.

Classic planMonthly termEmail marketing sendsWhat it adds
Basic₹249/mo100 a monthTemplates, custom domain, trial professional email, analytics, social posting
Premium₹599/mo25,000 a monthOnline booking with payments and deposits for appointments and events
Commerce₹899/mo100,000 a monthUnlimited products and services, 0% online store transaction fee

Airo AI Builder has its own ladder, again in rupees, and the plan page labels each price as billed annually. Starter is ₹699 a month with 150 AI credits and one published site or app. Professional is ₹1,699 with 300 credits and up to 10 sites. Ultimate is ₹6,499 with 750 credits and up to 50 sites, aimed at agencies. A monthly-billing rate is not clearly labelled on the India page, so check the cart if you prefer not to commit for a year.

So a shop owner who only needs pages, a contact form and a booking calendar pays less on classic Premium than on Airo Professional, the cheapest Airo tier with bookings. On Airo, every chat prompt also eats into a monthly credit allowance.

What the GoDaddy website builder free plan really gives you

The free start belongs to Airo, not to the classic builder. The India plan page for classic plans shows "Start for Free" buttons but lists no free tier. On Airo you get 50 credits a month. GoDaddy's credits FAQ says actions handled by Airo's agents, such as the chat, spend credits, while previewing, publishing, non-AI edits, code edits, media uploads, connecting a domain and restoring an older version do not.

The builder page says monthly credits expire at the end of each billing cycle and do not roll over. Extra credits bought from the Manage My Plan page last one year and work only in the account that bought them. In practice, 50 credits cover a first draft and a handful of revisions. A real business site with several rounds of changes will push you onto Starter quickly.

The free custom domain is tied to paid annual plans. The footnote on the Airo plan page says one domain is included with a new annual purchase for the first year, after which it renews at current prices, and the yearly ICANN fee still applies. The classic plan cards also list a free custom domain, but their footnote text was not shown, so read the cart terms before buying.

GoDaddy Airo AI website builder: credits, connectors and code

The paid Airo tiers differ less in AI quality than in what you can connect. Every plan includes automated security, speed and SEO checks, marketing and social post tools, and payment links. Professional adds advanced analytics, connectors for Facebook, Instagram, Notion, Google Business Profile and Mailchimp, a product catalogue, appointment booking, online payments and deposits, and shipping rates. Ultimate adds team collaboration, client handoff, project cloning, GitHub sync for editing in your own IDE, and priority help.

The GitHub sync matters for agencies that want to work in their own editor, and it sits on the ₹6,499 tier. Getting code out does not require Ultimate, though. A GoDaddy help article explains how to download any Airo project as a zip file from its Settings page, with no plan restriction mentioned. The classic builder has nothing comparable.

Every classic plan card also lists GoDaddy Airo AI, the wider assistant GoDaddy pitches for brand and marketing content. That is a lighter use of AI than building a full app.

Running a website and online store on the Commerce plan

Commerce is the ecommerce plan in the classic line. It lists unlimited products and services, multiple payment and delivery options, and a 0% online store transaction fee. Read the fine print, though. Several payment features on the India plan page carry country tags: pay links and QR codes (US and Canada only), free invoicing (US only), automatic sales tax (US only) and shoppable social posts (US and Canada). The same card lists a 2.7% plus 30 cents card transaction fee, written in US cents rather than rupees, so ask what an Indian merchant would actually pay.

The page does not name an Indian payment gateway. If you want UPI checkout for your own customers, confirm with GoDaddy sales which gateway works for Indian merchants before paying for Commerce. For a store that depends on local payments and courier integrations, Shopify, Wix or an Indian platform may save you trouble.

SEO wizard, email marketing and mobile editing

GoDaddy's help article on improving SEO walks through the SEO wizard inside the classic dashboard (Marketing, then SEO, then Start). On the first run the wizard asks questions to optimise your homepage. Later runs start from "Show up on Google", where you can work on other pages, blog posts and images, and nothing goes live until you publish. GoDaddy warns it can take up to eight weeks for SEO settings to affect rankings.

The tool covers on-page basics. It is not a substitute for real content and links, and you get little control over technical items compared with WordPress. For a local business with a few pages, though, that is usually enough to get indexed and found.

Email marketing is built in, with send limits by plan. Basic's 100 sends a month is only enough for a test, so a business with a real mailing list needs Premium or above. The GoDaddy app on Android and iOS handles mobile editing, letting you update the site from a phone and schedule posts to Facebook and Instagram.

GoDaddy website builder vs Wix (and Squarespace)

Wix has a free plan with a wixsite.com address and Wix ads. Its paid tiers are quoted in dollars: Light at $17 a month billed yearly, Core at $29 with online payments, and Business at $39. Squarespace has no free plan. Basic is $19 a month billed annually ($25 monthly) with a 2% store fee, and Core is $29.

GoDaddy wins on price for Indian buyers and on keeping domain, email and site under one login. Wix gives more design freedom and a far larger app market. Squarespace produces polished portfolios. If the site is a brochure for a clinic, tutor or contractor, GoDaddy is cheaper and quicker. A design-heavy brand or a growing store is better served by the other two.

Paying in rupees, renewals and getting your site out

GoDaddy's India payment help page lists INR billing with Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Maestro and RuPay cards, net banking, eWallets such as Mobikwik, and UPI. UPI orders stay pending until CCAvenue confirms the payment. The page links auto-renewal to cards, so if you pay by UPI, set a reminder before the term ends so the site does not lapse.

Leaving is where the two builders split. GoDaddy documents no site export for the classic builder; its help centre covers downloading online store orders, and WPBeginner's migration guide (updated May 2026) says there is no export tool. Moving a classic site means copying text and images by hand, rebuilding elsewhere and adding 301 redirects. Airo is more open: the builder page promises you can export your code anytime, and the help centre shows how to download a project as a zip.

On data, GoDaddy's Global Privacy Notice (revised 28 May 2026) says it uses analytics and AI to generate insights from personal data. It does not state whether site content you create in Airo is used to train models. Commercial use is the point of every paid plan.

GoDaddy website builder review and pricing: who should pay

  • Pay for classic Premium if you run a salon, coaching class or clinic and need appointment booking, email marketing and a custom domain at a rupee price.
  • Try Airo free first if you want an AI-built site or a simple app, and upgrade only after you see how fast you burn 50 credits.
  • Look elsewhere if you need Indian checkout gateways confirmed, deep design control or an easy exit from a template site.

To start, search your business name on GoDaddy, build a free Airo draft, and compare it with a classic template on the plan page. Buy annual only once you are sure, note the renewal date, and keep copies of your text and images outside GoDaddy from day one.

GoDaddy Website Builder FAQ

What is GoDaddy Website Builder?

It is GoDaddy's hosted tool for making a business website without code. The India store now sells two versions: the classic template builder (Basic, Premium, Commerce) and Airo AI Builder, which writes sites and small apps from chat prompts. Hosting, SSL and support are included.

How much does GoDaddy Website Builder cost in India?

On the India plan page the classic builder costs ₹249 a month for Basic, ₹599 for Premium and ₹899 for Commerce on the monthly term. Airo AI Builder runs from ₹699 a month for Starter to ₹6,499 a month for Ultimate, both billed annually. Check the cart for GST and the final term before paying.

Is GoDaddy Website Builder free?

Only Airo AI Builder has a free start, with 50 AI credits a month and no card required. Credits reset each billing cycle and do not roll over. The classic builder plans are paid, and the included custom domain comes only with paid annual plans.

How do I build a website with GoDaddy Website Builder?

Create a GoDaddy account, then either describe your business to Airo or pick a classic template. Edit the text, images and sections, connect a domain, run the SEO wizard and publish. Publishing and non-AI edits do not use Airo credits.

Is GoDaddy Website Builder good for SEO?

It covers the basics. The classic builder's SEO wizard walks you through optimising the homepage, then other pages, posts and images, and Airo plans run automated SEO checks. Technical control is limited compared with WordPress, and GoDaddy says SEO settings can take up to eight weeks to affect rankings.

GoDaddy vs Wix vs Squarespace: which is better?

GoDaddy is cheapest for Indian buyers, with classic plans from ₹249 a month billed in rupees. Wix starts at $17 a month billed yearly and offers a free-form editor and a free plan with ads. Squarespace starts at $19 a month billed annually and suits design-led portfolios, but has no free plan.

Can I pay GoDaddy in rupees with UPI?

Yes. GoDaddy's India payment help page lists INR billing with UPI, net banking, eWallets such as Mobikwik and cards including RuPay. UPI orders stay pending until CCAvenue confirms payment, and GoDaddy recommends a card with auto-renew to avoid an expired plan.

What are the best GoDaddy Website Builder alternatives?

Wix suits owners who want design freedom and a large app market. Squarespace suits portfolios and design-led brands. For an online store with Indian payment options, Shopify is a common choice, and WordPress on regular hosting suits anyone who wants full control and portability.

Why can't I move my GoDaddy site to another host?

The classic builder is a closed, hosted platform, and GoDaddy documents no site export for it. You can download store orders, but pages must be rebuilt elsewhere by hand. Airo AI Builder is different: GoDaddy's help centre shows how to download a project's files and code as a zip, and Ultimate adds GitHub sync.

Who is GoDaddy Website Builder best for?

It suits Indian small businesses such as clinics, salons, tutors and contractors who want a simple site, booking and email marketing on rupee billing, with domain and email in one account. It is less suited to design-heavy brands, large stores or classic-builder users who may want to change hosts later.
