Our verdict
Calendly is the safe pick for sales teams and recruiters who need routing and fair distribution, and Standard is fairly priced for busy freelancers. Indian sellers should note the dollar billing and missing UPI, and solo users on a budget should try Cal.com's richer free plan first.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Calendly?
Calendly is a scheduling app that turns your free time into a shareable booking page, so people can pick a slot without the usual back-and-forth over email or WhatsApp. It was founded in 2013 by Tope Awotona, and its privacy notice and Google Play listing both give an address in Buford, Georgia, USA. Most solo users start on the free tier and only later ask what paying adds, so this review explains the Calendly free vs Standard plan first, then looks at team pricing, payments for Indian sellers, security and the rivals worth testing.
Who Calendly is for
The product fits three kinds of buyers. Freelancers, coaches and consultants use it to take discovery calls and paid sessions. Sales and customer success teams use it to spread inbound demos across reps. Recruiters and agencies use it to book interviews and client reviews at volume. If you take fewer than five meetings a week and all of them are with colleagues inside Google Workspace, you may not need a separate tool at all, which we cover further down.
Key features in practice
Everything starts with event types. Each one is a meeting template with its own length, location, buffer time, questions and availability rules, and each gets its own booking URL. You can then share scheduling links in an email, on your website as an embed, or from the browser extension, which according to the Chrome Web Store has about 700,000 users and was last updated in August 2026.
Beyond one-on-one calls, Calendly supports group events (one host, many invitees, such as a webinar or demo class) and collective events, where every selected host must be free before a slot appears. Round robin scheduling assigns each booking to one host from a pool. Its help centre names two distribution modes: maximise for availability, or optimise for equal distribution so meetings are shared evenly.
Calendly workflows send reminder emails and texts, follow-ups and cancellation notices without manual effort. On the Teams tier, lead forms handle calendly routing: a visitor answers a few questions and is sent to the right rep or page. Teams can also route by HubSpot assignment and push meetings into Salesforce, while routing on a Salesforce lookup is reserved for Enterprise. Calendly integrations listed on the pricing page include HubSpot, Mailchimp, Zapier, Google Analytics, Meta Pixel and webhooks, plus video conferencing through Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams. The calendly zoom integration creates a unique meeting link for each booking, and on Teams it can be connected once for the whole organisation.
Newer add-ons, Notetaker and an email scheduling assistant called Callie, can be bolted onto Standard or Teams. The pricing page says both work in English only and does not show a public price for them.
Calendly free vs Standard plan: what changes when you pay
The Free plan is genuinely usable, but tight. You get one event type, one connected calendar, a booking page you can customise, one-on-one meetings and the browser extension. That is enough for a single "30-minute intro call" link.
Standard removes the main walls. You get unlimited event types and up to six calendar connections, which matters if you juggle a work Google account and a personal Outlook. It adds automated reminders and follow-ups, cancellation policies, meetings with several hosts, removal of Calendly branding and custom confirmation pages. It also opens calendly payments through Stripe and PayPal, plus payment links, invoices and prepaid packages, and connects HubSpot, Mailchimp, Zapier and webhooks.
New accounts get a two-week trial of Teams Plus, according to Calendly's billing help article. When it ends, the account drops back to Free and paid features switch off until you upgrade.
Plans and pricing
All public prices are in US dollars and charged per seat. Invitees never need a seat or an account.
| Plan | Billed yearly | Main additions |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 1 event type, 1 calendar, extension |
| Standard | $10/seat/mo | Unlimited event types, 6 calendars, workflows, Stripe and PayPal |
| Teams | $16/seat/mo | Round robin, routing forms, HubSpot routing, team analytics |
| Enterprise | From $15,000/yr (50+ seats) | SAML SSO, Salesforce lookup routing, audit logs, dedicated account support |
The pricing page shows the yearly rates with "Save 17%" on Standard and "Save 20%" on Teams. Monthly billing is also offered and costs more per seat, but the page does not spell out that rate, so flip the toggle yourself before you commit. One billing detail catches people out: you pay for every seat you buy, filled or empty.
Calendly pricing in India
Calendly does not publish rupee pricing. Indian buyers pay the US dollar rate, so the final bill depends on your card's exchange rate and any foreign transaction fee your bank adds. The bigger practical issue is the RBI e-mandate. Calendly's help centre says customers with an Indian billing address receive a payment link by email each billing cycle and must approve it manually within 10 days, or the subscription can be cancelled. Annual billing means you face that step once a year instead of twelve times, which is a decent reason to pick it.
Collecting money from your own clients is harder. Booking payments run only through Stripe and PayPal. Calendly's community team said in December 2025 that UPI is not supported, and the same reply listed AUD, CAD, EUR, GBP and USD as the Stripe currencies, so rupees are absent. Razorpay is not among the listed processors either. A coach in Pune charging ₹2,000 per session would need to send a separate payment link after the booking, for example through a workflow email.
Calendly vs Cal.com
Cal.com is the obvious rival for cost-conscious teams and developers. Its code sits on GitHub and it offers a self-hosted option. The comparison below uses each vendor's own pricing page.
| Point | Calendly | Cal.com |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | 1 event type, 1 calendar | 1 user, unlimited event types and calendars |
| Payments on free | No (Standard and above) | Stripe and PayPal included |
| Team plan (yearly) | Teams, $16/seat/mo | Teams, $12/user/mo |
| Routing forms | Teams | Teams |
| Self-hosting | No | Yes |
On paper Cal.com gives a solo user far more for nothing. Calendly answers with a more polished admin side, its Salesforce links, an established mobile app and a long list of security certifications. A small agency that wants payments without a bill should try Cal.com first. A sales team already living in Salesforce will probably find Calendly easier to roll out.
Calendly vs Google Calendar appointment schedule
If you already pay for Google Workspace, Google's built-in booking pages may cover you. Google's comparison article says a personal account gets a single booking page, while extras such as more than one schedule, email reminders and checking availability across several calendars need Google One Premium or a Workspace plan. Accepting Stripe payments requires Workspace Individual or a Business, Enterprise, Education or Nonprofit plan. What Google lacks is the team layer: no round robin pools, no lead routing and far fewer outside integrations. For a single consultant it is often enough; for a sales desk it is not.
Calendly alternatives: free and paid
- Cal.com: the strongest free tier, with open code and a hosted plan.
- Zoho Bookings: a forever-free plan for one user, then Basic at $6 and Premium at $9 per user per month on yearly billing. Zoho pitches Premium at firms that need online payments. A good fit if your business already runs on Zoho.
- Acuity Scheduling: Squarespace's booking tool, aimed at service businesses such as salons and clinics. Its pricing page starts the Starter plan at $16 a month on annual billing.
- Doodle: known for group polls where several people vote on a time; it also offers booking pages. Doodle's help centre puts Single Professional at $132 a year or $15 on monthly billing.
Privacy, security and commercial use
Calendly's security page lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001, CSA STAR and PCI compliance, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.2 or newer in transit. Data may be stored in the United States or other countries where Calendly or its vendors operate, and the company relies on the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework for European transfers. The privacy notice also admits that some cookie-based advertising counts as a "sale or share" under California law, with an opt-out offered. Business use is the whole point of the paid plans, so there is no commercial-use restriction to worry about.
Limitations to weigh
- The free tier stops at one event type, so even a coach with two session lengths must upgrade.
- No rupee billing, no UPI and no Razorpay, which hurts Indian service sellers.
- Round robin and lead routing need Teams, a 60% jump over Standard on yearly billing.
- The iOS app is listed as iPhone only, not iPad.
- Seat-based billing charges for unused seats.
How to get started
Sign up with your Google or Microsoft account and Calendly will ask to connect that calendar, which it then checks for conflicts before showing any slot. Set your working hours, create your first event type, and add a Zoom or Google Meet location. Copy the link into your email signature or install the Chrome extension to drop times into Gmail. For a team, buy Teams seats, create a round robin event type, add the hosts and choose a distribution mode. Developers can use the REST API (v2) with OAuth and webhooks, and a separate MCP server is offered for AI apps. Android and iPhone apps are available for checking bookings on the move.
Is it worth paying for?
For one person with one type of meeting, stay on Free. Once you need a second meeting length, reminders or paid bookings, Standard at $10 a month on yearly billing is fair value, though Indian sellers must work around missing UPI. Teams makes sense only when you truly need routing and fair distribution across reps.

Calendly FAQ
Is Calendly free?
Yes. Calendly has a Free plan with no time limit. It includes one event type, one connected calendar, a customisable booking page, one-on-one meetings and the browser extension. New accounts also get a two-week Teams Plus trial before dropping to Free.
How much is Calendly Standard per month?
Standard costs $10 per seat per month when billed yearly, according to Calendly's pricing page, which marks that as a 17% saving. Monthly billing is available at a higher rate that the page does not list outright. Prices are in US dollars, including for Indian buyers.
What are Calendly free plan limits?
The Free plan allows one event type and one calendar connection. It does not include automated workflows, payments, branding removal or multi-host meetings. Round robin and routing forms need the Teams plan.
How do I set up Calendly with Google Calendar?
Sign up with your Google account and allow Calendly to connect your calendar. Calendly then checks that calendar for busy times so booked slots never clash, and adds new bookings to it. The Free plan supports one connected calendar; Standard allows up to six.
Is Calendly safe?
Calendly's security page lists SOC 2 Type 2, SOC 3, ISO/IEC 27001, CSA STAR and PCI compliance, with AES-256 encryption at rest and TLS 1.2 or newer in transit. SSO is available on higher plans. Its privacy notice says some advertising cookies count as a sale or share under California law, with an opt-out.
Calendly vs Cal.com: which is better?
Cal.com gives more on its free plan, including unlimited event types and Stripe or PayPal payments, and its code can be self-hosted. Calendly costs more for teams ($16 versus $12 per seat per month on yearly billing) but has a more established admin setup and Salesforce tools on its higher tiers. Solo users on a budget usually prefer Cal.com.
Calendly vs Acuity Scheduling: what is the difference?
Acuity Scheduling is Squarespace's booking tool, built mainly for service businesses that sell appointments, such as salons and clinics. Acuity's pricing page starts at $16 a month for Starter on annual billing, or $20 month to month. Calendly is stronger for sales teams that need round robin and lead routing.
Calendly vs Doodle: which should I pick?
Doodle is best known for group polls, where several people vote on a meeting time, and it also offers booking pages. Doodle's help centre lists Single Professional at $132 a year or $15 a month. Calendly is the better choice for one-to-one booking links, team distribution and integrations.
What are the best Calendly alternatives?
Cal.com is the strongest free option, Zoho Bookings suits businesses already on Zoho with a free one-user plan, and Google Calendar appointment schedules work for Workspace users. Acuity Scheduling fits service businesses, and Doodle suits group polls.
How do I set up round robin in Calendly?
Round robin needs the Teams plan or above. Create a new event type, choose round robin, add the hosts from your team and pick a distribution mode: maximise for availability or optimise for equal distribution. Share the event link and Calendly assigns each booking to one host.
