Our verdict
Bubble is the most complete no-code option for database-driven web and native mobile apps, and the AI agent makes the first version quick to produce. The costs to plan for are workload-based billing and the fact that code cannot be exported. Start on Free, measure workload usage, then pick web, mobile or combined Starter.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Bubble?
Bubble's homepage counts roughly 6 million builders, and not one of them can download the code behind their app. That single trade-off frames this bubble no code app builder review and pricing guide. You get a visual editor, a hosted database, backend workflows and native iOS and Android publishing under one login, and in return the app runs on Bubble's servers for as long as it exists. Since the mobile launch, plans are sold per project in three flavours (web only, mobile only, or web and mobile together), and every paid tier is metered in workload units.
The people who get the most out of it are founders building something with logins and records: a two-sided marketplace, a SaaS dashboard, a client portal for a CA firm, an internal approvals tool. Bubble Group, Inc. makes the product. Wikipedia and Contrary Research both report that Emmanuel Straschnov and Josh Haas founded it in New York in 2012.
Bubble no code app builder review and pricing for Indian teams, in rupees
All prices on bubble.io are in US dollars, and there is no separate rupee price list. The table uses the figures from Bubble's manual and pricing page; the INR column is approx., at ≈₹94.7 per USD, for annual billing on the web-only plan, before bank forex charges and taxes.
| Tier | Web only (annual / monthly) | Mobile only | Web + Mobile | Approx. INR, web only annual | Workload units a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | $0 | ₹0 | 50K |
| Starter | $32 / $39 | $42 / $49 | $59 / $69 | ≈₹3,030 | 175K |
| Growth | $119 / $134 | $169 / $199 | $209 / $249 | ≈₹11,270 | 250K |
| Team | $349 / $399 | $449 / $529 | $549 / $649 | ≈₹33,050 | 500K |
| Enterprise | Quoted by sales | Quoted by sales | Quoted by sales | Custom | Custom |
Paying yearly saves up to 20%, per the pricing page. A Starter app with both web and mobile costs about ₹5,590 a month on annual billing, which is roughly what a small Indian agency charges for a few hours of developer time.
bubble.io pricing: what Starter, Growth and Team add on top of Free
The Free plan is a workshop, not a shop front. You get the development version, the API connector, web and mobile debuggers, one editor, 50K workload units and six hours of server logs. You cannot go live on a custom domain, cannot publish a mobile build and cannot buy extra capacity, so the app is effectively a prototype until you pay.
- Starter brings the live site, a custom domain, recurring workflows, basic version control, two days of logs and 100 GB of bandwidth. On mobile it allows three live app versions and five store builds a month (ten a month for the first three months, per the manual), with unlimited over-the-air updates.
- Growth adds a second editor, premium version control with ten custom branches, two-factor authentication, 14 days of logs and 500 GB of bandwidth.
- Team gives five editors, sub apps, 25 branches, 20 days of logs, 1 TB of bandwidth, eight live mobile versions and 20 builds a month.
New apps may be eligible for a 14-day Starter trial, which has to start within ten days of creating the app and puts a $1 pre-authorisation hold on your card. Bubble's billing docs add that Indian users cannot activate free trials and must subscribe to Starter directly after completing the RBI card mandate process. Plan changes are prorated, and Bubble's billing docs say subscription charges are generally non-refundable, so test on Free before committing to a year.
Workload units, the meter behind every Bubble bill
Workload units (WU) measure the server effort your app burns: database searches, writes, backend workflows, API calls to outside services, file handling. Page views alone are cheap; a dashboard that runs five searches over thousands of records every time it loads is not. Each paid plan also includes 100,000 WU a month for the development environment, so building and testing do not eat into the live allowance.
Go past the monthly allowance and Bubble charges $0.30 per 1,000 WU (approx. ₹28) unless you have bought a workload tier, which only Starter, Growth and Team apps can do. A Starter app that uses 275K WU in a month would therefore owe about $30 extra. Email alerts go out at 75% and 100%. If you switch overages off and hit the cap, the app goes offline until you add capacity or the next billing period starts, which is a harsh outcome for a paying customer base. Extra file storage is $3 per 100 GB a month.
Building a first web app on Bubble without writing code
Most people now begin with the Bubble AI Agent, which acts as the platform's AI app generator. You describe the product, it proposes a blueprint, and after you approve it the agent produces pages, elements, a database, workflows and sample data inside the development environment. It can also edit an existing app, wire up external APIs and explain how a workflow behaves.
- Sketch your data types (Users, Listings, Bookings, say) before prompting; the agent works better with a clear model.
- Tighten privacy rules on each data type before real users sign up. Bubble's docs treat these rules as the main security layer of an app.
- Use the responsive editor to check every page at phone width; generated layouts rarely survive that test untouched.
- Connect payments or a CRM through plugins or the API connector. The homepage lists about 8,000 plugins, and marketplace templates cover common starting points such as directories and SaaS dashboards.
- For a mobile app, preview in the simulator or a dev build. The manual says BubbleGo is being deprecated as a preview option, and dev builds need App Store and Google Play connections.
Budget a few weeks to feel at home. The editor has a lot of panels, and expressions such as "Do a search for" take time to read fluently.
Bubble vs FlutterFlow for a native mobile app
FlutterFlow's pricing page lists a Free plan, Basic at $39 a month (approx. ₹3,690), Growth at $80 for the first seat and Business at $150 for the first seat. Its paid plans include code download and APK download, which Bubble will never offer. That is the real dividing line. If an investor or future CTO will want the source in a Git repo, FlutterFlow is the safer bet.
Bubble's argument is that backend, hosting and database are part of the same subscription. A mobile-only Starter plan at $42 a month on annual billing covers data storage, server logic and store builds without a separate backend bill. For a founder with no developer on the team, fewer moving parts can matter more than code ownership. Bubble also lets one project serve a web app and a mobile app from the same data, which suits marketplaces that need both.
Bubble vs Webflow: logged-in apps against marketing sites
Webflow is the better tool for a content site. Its Basic site plan costs $15 a month billed yearly (approx. ₹1,420) and Premium costs $25 billed yearly ($39 monthly), after Webflow folded its CMS and Business plans into Premium in May 2026. The Core workspace plan, at $19 a month billed yearly, includes code export. Webflow retired its Logic automation product in 2025, so complex app behaviour still is not its job.
Bubble is weaker at polished, SEO-led marketing pages and much stronger at user accounts, roles, relational data and multi-step workflows. A sensible split for many startups is a Webflow site on the main domain and the Bubble app on a subdomain such as app.yourbrand.in.
Where Bubble's no-code limitations start to bite
Lock-in is the big one. The manual states plainly that Bubble apps run only on Bubble and cannot be exported as code. You can export user data as CSV or pull it through the Data API, and the terms updated in September 2026 say you keep rights to your designs and workflows, but moving off means rebuilding the logic. Bubble says it would release its source under an open-source licence if the service ever shut down, which is some comfort.
- Cost predictability. WU spend depends on how efficiently you build, so two apps of similar size can have very different bills.
- Mobile release limits. Store builds are capped per month, and production builds are pinned to a version, so native-level changes need a fresh store release.
- Data location. The privacy policy says data may be stored in the United States or other countries. Choosing a hosting location is an Enterprise feature, which matters to Indian fintech or health startups with localisation requirements.
- Collaboration. Even Team stops at five editors, so larger product teams end up on Enterprise.
Why a Bubble app feels slow, and what to check first
Bubble apps can scale: hosting and scaling are handled for you on shared infrastructure, and Enterprise adds a dedicated cluster that scales independently. Slowness usually comes from how the app was built. Common culprits are searches that load whole tables on page load, filtering large lists in the browser instead of with search constraints, long chains of front-end workflows that belong in the backend, and too many heavy plugins. Server logs help here, and their retention grows from six hours on Free to 20 days on Team. Fixing these patterns usually lowers WU spend too.
Who owns the app, the data and the AI output
Under Bubble's terms you retain rights to your app content, including design, workflows and data your users submit, and Bubble does not claim ownership of AI output generated from your prompts. Both the terms and the privacy policy (last revised in April 2025) say inputs and outputs from Bubble's AI tools may be used to train and improve those tools, with no opt-out described, so avoid pasting confidential customer data into the agent. The platform holds a SOC 2 Type II report for security, audited by Sensiba LLP, though that covers Bubble itself, not your app. A public status page at status.bubble.io tracks the editor, native mobile builds and app store deployments separately.
Who should pay for Bubble, and who should not
Pay for it if you are a non-technical founder validating a database-heavy product, an agency shipping client portals (the Agency account gives full features while an app is in development, and the app moves to the client's own paid plan before it goes live), or an operations team replacing spreadsheets with a proper internal tool. Skip it if you need the source code, if your product is mostly content, or if a dollar bill that swings with usage would strain a rupee budget. The best Bubble alternatives depend on that reason: FlutterFlow for exportable mobile code, Webflow or Framer for sites, Google AppSheet for internal apps on Sheets, and Bolt.new if you want AI-written code you can take away.

Bubble FAQ
What is bubble.io?
Bubble is a visual platform from Bubble Group, Inc. for building web apps and native iOS and Android apps without writing code. It bundles the editor, a hosted database, backend workflows and hosting in one subscription. An AI agent can generate a first version of an app from a written description.
How much does Bubble cost per month?
Paid web-only plans cost $32, $119 and $349 a month on annual billing (Starter, Growth, Team), or $39, $134 and $399 billed monthly. Mobile-only plans start at $42 and web plus mobile at $59 a month on annual billing. Approx. INR at ≈₹94.7 per USD, Starter web is about ₹3,030 a month; Enterprise is quoted by sales.
Is Bubble free to use?
Yes, the Free plan costs nothing and includes the editor, the API connector, one editor seat and 50K workload units a month. It is meant for development, so you cannot use a custom domain, publish mobile builds or buy extra workload. You need at least Starter to launch publicly.
How do I build a web app on Bubble without coding?
Start a project and describe your idea to the Bubble AI Agent, which drafts a blueprint and then generates pages, a database, workflows and sample data. Refine the layout in the responsive editor, set privacy rules on each data type and connect services through plugins or the API connector. Upgrade to a paid plan when you are ready to go live on your own domain.
Can Bubble apps scale?
Yes. Bubble runs the hosting and infrastructure for you, and Enterprise adds a dedicated cluster that scales independently of other apps. The practical limit is cost and efficiency, since heavier usage consumes more workload units. Paid plans can buy workload tiers or pay overages at $0.30 per 1,000 units.
Bubble vs Webflow: which is better?
Webflow is better for marketing and content sites, with site plans from $15 a month billed yearly. Bubble is better for apps with user accounts, relational data and multi-step logic. Many teams use Webflow for the public site and Bubble for the logged-in product.
Can I export code from Bubble?
No. Bubble's manual says apps run only on the Bubble platform and cannot be exported as code. You can export your data as CSV files or through the Data API, but the app logic has to be rebuilt elsewhere if you leave.
What are the best bubble.io alternatives?
FlutterFlow suits teams that want native mobile apps with downloadable code, from $39 a month on its Basic plan. Webflow and Framer are better for websites, Google AppSheet for internal tools built on Sheets data, and Bolt.new for AI-generated code you can keep. The right pick depends on whether code ownership, content or app logic matters most.
Why is my Bubble app slow?
Slow Bubble apps usually run large database searches on page load, filter big lists in the browser or chain many front-end workflows. Move heavy work to backend workflows, add search constraints and remove plugins you do not need. Check server logs, which paid plans keep for two to 20 days depending on tier.
Who is Bubble best for?
Bubble fits non-technical founders building marketplaces, SaaS dashboards or client portals, agencies building apps for clients, and operations teams replacing spreadsheets. It is less suitable for content-led websites or teams that must own their source code. Indian teams should also factor in dollar billing and usage-based workload costs.
