Walk through Malviya Nagar on any given afternoon and you will spot it everywhere now — a jewellery exporter near Gopalpura bypass getting product photos shot for their website, a Sanganeri block-print label packing orders into courier boxes, a leather goods unit arguing with a delivery partner over a late pickup. Rajasthan's handicraft, textile, jewellery and fashion businesses have quietly moved online over the last few years, and most of them chose Shopify to do it. It is the platform that lets a family-run bangle shop in Johari Bazaar or a home-grown D2C candle brand in Vaishali Nagar launch an online store without hiring a full engineering team. That shift is exactly why we are opening up a Shopify Developer job in Malviya Nagar Jaipur right now.
Why Jaipur's online sellers need someone who can actually build on Shopify
Most of these brands start with a theme bought off the Shopify store and a logo slapped on top. Within a few months they run into the same wall: the homepage looks fine on desktop but breaks on mobile, the checkout doesn't accept the payment gateway they want, or they need a size-chart app talking to their product catalog correctly. That is the gap this role fills — someone who can open a theme's code, understand what a merchant actually needs, and fix it, not just click around in the admin panel.
Devmixa is a small web design and digital marketing team based in Bhopal. We have spent the last few years building websites and running ad campaigns for retail and service businesses across central India, and over the past year a good chunk of that work has turned into Shopify projects — store setups, theme customisation, and ongoing support for brands that sell everything from handloom sarees to ayurvedic skincare. We are now opening a Jaipur base out of our Malviya Nagar office, and this vacancy in Jaipur, Rajasthan is one of the first hires for it, because enough of our clients and leads are based in and around the city that running everything remotely from Bhopal no longer makes sense.
What the role actually involves, day to day
This is not a desk job where you watch dashboards all day. On a typical week you would be editing Liquid template files to rebuild a collection page layout, wiring up a new payment gateway for a client whose old one started rejecting international cards, or migrating a store from WooCommerce onto Shopify without losing three years of order history. Some days are quieter — cleaning up broken CSS after a theme update, writing a small JavaScript snippet so a size guide pops up correctly on mobile, testing a newly installed app before it goes live on the storefront. You will work closely with our design and marketing folks, since half the job is translating what a merchant wants visually into something that actually functions on the backend.
You will also spend time talking to clients directly, especially once you are past your first few months. A lot of our handicraft and jewellery clients are not technical at all, so part of the job is explaining, in plain language, why a particular app will slow their store down or why their checkout page needs an SSL fix. Patience matters here as much as code.
Who tends to do well in this seat
People who already know their way around HTML, CSS and JavaScript pick this up fastest, because a large chunk of the work is reading and adjusting existing theme code rather than building from a blank file. Familiarity with how an online store actually runs — inventory, discounts, abandoned cart emails, shipping rules — helps more than any certificate does. If you have poked around a Shopify store before, even a personal project or a friend's shop, that counts for something in the interview.
We are open to both ends of the experience spectrum. A fresher who has taught themselves Liquid and built a demo store on a free trial account can absolutely get this job — we would rather see three months of self-driven tinkering than a degree with no hands-on work. Someone with two to four years of agency or freelance experience will obviously move faster and take on bigger client accounts sooner, but we structure onboarding so a motivated beginner is contributing real work within the first few weeks.
Pay, growth and what the first year looks like
Freshers joining start at ₹16,000 to ₹24,000 a month, depending on how much you already know going into the interview — someone who walks in with a working portfolio store tends to land at the higher end. For candidates with two to four years of relevant experience, the range is ₹32,000 to ₹55,000 a month, which works out to roughly ₹3 to ₹6.5 lakh a year. Reviews happen annually, and the jump from the fresher band to the experienced band is realistic within eighteen to twenty-four months if you keep learning and take ownership of client accounts rather than waiting to be handed tasks.
Beyond salary, you get exposure that is hard to replicate elsewhere in Jaipur right now. Most local IT setups are still doing WordPress sites or basic PHP work; very few are building a real bench of ecommerce specialists. Working across multiple live stores, each with different themes, apps and quirks, teaches you more in a year than sitting on one product team ever would.
The office and how we work
Our Jaipur office sits in Malviya Nagar, pincode 302017, an easy commute if you are anywhere along the Tonk Road, JLN Marg or Gopalpura corridor. This is an on-site, full-time role — we are deliberately not making it remote for now, because training someone new on live client stores works far better in person, where you can look over a shoulder and point at the actual screen instead of explaining a bug over a call. Office hours are standard daytime hours, Monday through Saturday with alternate Saturdays off, and the team is small enough that you will know everyone by name within a week.
We keep the structure flat on purpose. There is no layer of project managers between you and the client, which some people find stressful at first and others find refreshing. You get real ownership of the stores you work on, and you get to see the actual impact of a fix — a merchant's cart abandonment rate dropping after you cleaned up their checkout, or a store's page load time improving after you optimised a bloated app stack.
Skills that matter more than a certificate
- Comfort reading and editing Liquid template code inside Shopify themes
- Solid basics in HTML, CSS and JavaScript — enough to debug a layout issue without Googling every line
- Some exposure to Shopify apps and how they get installed, configured and sometimes removed cleanly
- An understanding of how an online store actually operates — product catalog structure, variants, discounts, shipping zones
- Basic knowledge of how a payment gateway integrates into checkout, even if you have only tested one on a demo store
- Willingness to learn store migration work, since several of our clients are moving off other platforms
- Decent written and spoken English, since a chunk of communication happens over email and WhatsApp with clients
None of this requires a computer science degree. We have hired people from diploma backgrounds who simply spent time building things on their own, and we have passed over engineering graduates who could not explain a basic Liquid loop. What we look for in the interview is whether you can walk us through something you actually built, even if it is rough around the edges.
How the hiring actually works
Send your resume along with links to anything you have built — a demo store, a GitHub repo, even screenshots of theme edits you have made for a college project or a friend's shop. We shortlist within a few days and call candidates in for a short technical conversation followed by a walk-in interview at our Malviya Nagar office, where we will likely ask you to look at a real theme file and tell us what you would change. There is no written test and no multi-round drama — if the conversation goes well, we usually confirm within the same week.
We are trying to build a small, capable ecommerce team in Jaipur rather than just filling a seat, so if you are someone who likes figuring out why a store is broken and actually fixing it, this is worth your time to apply for.
