Dehradun has a funny mix of businesses. You've got the usual tourism and education-sector outfits that every hill-station city attracts, but walk a bit further into the trading lanes around Rajpur Road and Clock Tower and you'll find wholesalers, Ayurvedic and herbal product manufacturers, sportswear exporters, and auto-parts traders who have been running catalogues the old-fashioned way for years. A good number of them are now trying to move that catalogue online, and not in a "quick Shopify store" sense — they want a proper B2B/B2C setup that can handle bulk pricing tiers, GST-compliant invoicing, dealer logins, and a few thousand SKUs without the site crawling to a halt. That is where Magento (Adobe Commerce) still earns its keep over lighter platforms, and it's why this opening exists.
Where this role fits in
Devmixa is a small web design and digital marketing team based in Bhopal. We've mostly worked with clients across Madhya Pradesh so far, but a few of our trading and manufacturing clients have roots in Uttarakhand, and that's pulled us toward opening a proper presence in Dehradun. Rather than running everything remotely, we'd rather have someone sitting close to these businesses — understanding their catalogue quirks, their seasonal sales patterns, their actual warehouse-to-website gap — and building for that reality. The office is on Rajpur Road, close enough to walk into most of our client meetings instead of scheduling a video call every time.
If you're searching for a Magento Developer job in Rajpur Road Dehradun, this is a real, on-site, full-time seat — not a satellite desk that gets shut the moment budgets tighten.
What you'll actually be doing
Day to day, the work splits roughly three ways. First, there's store build-out and customization — setting up new Magento 2 stores or extending existing ones, wiring up payment gateways that work with Indian banks, and configuring shipping rules that make sense for a business shipping both locally within Dehradun and pan-India. Second, there's extension and module work: writing a Magento 2 extension when an off-the-shelf plugin doesn't quite fit a client's bulk-order workflow, or patching one that's gone stale. A fair bit of this leans on PHP OOPs fundamentals, so you'll want to be comfortable with classes, interfaces, and dependency injection rather than just copy-pasting from Stack Overflow.
Third, and this is the part most freshers underestimate, is checkout customization and store performance. Clients care a lot about cart abandonment, so you'll be tweaking the checkout flow — adding custom fields, adjusting shipping-method display, sometimes building a basic quote-request flow for B2B buyers who don't want to "buy now," they want a quote first. On the performance side, that means knowing your way around MySQL query tuning, image optimization, Varnish or basic caching setups, and generally keeping page-load times from embarrassing the client during a festive sale.
- Building and customizing Magento 2 stores for trading, manufacturing and export clients
- Writing and maintaining custom Magento 2 extensions and modules
- Theme edits and front-end tweaks using Magento's templating layer
- Checkout flow customization, including B2B quote/approval style workflows
- Store performance work — caching, MySQL optimization, image and asset handling
- Basic third-party integrations: payment gateways, shipping APIs, inventory feeds
- Day-to-day bug fixes and client-reported ticket resolution
Who we're looking for
We're hiring across two bands here, and honestly both get posted together because the skillset overlaps so much. If you're a fresher — someone who's done a course or built a couple of personal/practice stores but hasn't held a paid ecommerce role yet — we're open to that, provided your PHP and MySQL basics are solid and you can show us something you've actually built, even a half-finished store on a local server counts. If you've got two to four years under your belt, ideally with real client-facing Magento work, extension development, or theme customization experience, you'll be handling more of the client communication and code review side from day one.
This is genuinely one of the better entry points into ecommerce development for someone early in their career, because Magento forces you to learn proper architecture — EAV models, plugins, observers — rather than letting you get away with spaghetti code the way some lighter frameworks do.
Skills we care about
- Solid PHP, including OOP concepts — not just procedural scripting
- Working knowledge of Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) architecture
- MySQL — writing and optimizing queries, understanding indexes
- Comfort with HTML, CSS and enough JavaScript to not be scared of the front end
- Exposure to Magento theme development or willingness to learn it fast
- Basic Git usage for version control
- An eye for detail — ecommerce bugs cost clients real money, not just annoyance
Pay and how it grows
For freshers, the starting salary sits between ₹15,000 and ₹22,000 a month, which is fair for Dehradun's cost of living and reflects that we expect to invest time training you on our specific client stack. Once you've put in two to four years and can run a build largely on your own — handling module development, checkout changes, and performance fixes without hand-holding — pay moves up to the ₹30,000–₹50,000 a month range, which works out to roughly ₹3–6 LPA. We review this honestly based on what you're actually shipping, not just years on a resume.
A fair question: what about freshers with zero experience?
We get asked this a lot, so let's be direct about it. We don't expect a fresher to walk in knowing every corner of Adobe Commerce — nobody does on day one. What we do expect is that you understand PHP properly, you've poked around a Magento install enough to know your way around the admin panel and the file structure, and you're not intimidated by reading someone else's code. The first month is mostly shadowing — fixing small tickets, writing basic module code under review, getting familiar with how our clients' stores are structured. By month two or three, most people are handling checkout tweaks and extension bugs on their own.
Life in the Dehradun office
The Rajpur Road location was a deliberate pick — it's close to several of the import/export and trading businesses we're targeting as clients, there's decent food around for lunch breaks, and it's walkable from most of the city without needing a two-wheeler every single day. We keep the team small on purpose. You're not going to be one of forty developers lost in a Slack channel; you'll know every client we work with by name within your first month, and your code review will come from someone who actually looks at the diff, not a bot that rubber-stamps it.
We run standard office hours, six days a working fortnight sort of rhythm with alternate Saturdays off, and we genuinely try not to make people work weekends unless a client launch is on fire — which, in ecommerce, does happen occasionally around festive sales.
How to apply
If you think you fit either band — fresher or two-to-four-years — send your resume along with links to anything you've built, even unfinished personal projects. For the experienced band, a GitHub link or a couple of live store URLs you've worked on (even partially) will move your application ahead of a plain resume. We're filling this seat for our Rajpur Road office specifically, so do mention if you're already based in Dehradun or nearby — that helps us plan interview slots faster, and in some cases we're running these as walk-in rounds rather than multiple phone screens.
A note on growth and where this leads
People sometimes ask whether specializing this deep in one platform limits them compared to going the full-stack route. Our honest take: a strong ecommerce specialist who actually understands checkout flows, inventory sync, and store performance is harder to replace than a generalist who's touched ten frameworks shallowly. That said, nothing here stops you from picking up broader full-stack skills alongside — several of our own team members started on store customization and have since moved into building custom admin dashboards and internal tools for the same clients. Given how many trading and manufacturing businesses in this region are only just beginning their shift to serious online selling, we think the next few years are a good runway for anyone who gets properly good at this stack now rather than later.
We're not running this as a remote or part-time arrangement at the moment — it's an on-site role at the Rajpur Road address, largely because so much of the early learning happens over someone's shoulder, reviewing a module together or walking through why a checkout patch broke a shipping rule. Once you've been with us a while and proven you can work independently, there's some flexibility on hours, but the core setup is in-person.
