Our verdict
Serpstat is a solid choice for small agencies and in-house teams that want several seats, keyword clustering and API access without Semrush or Ahrefs pricing. Skip Individual unless your workload is light, and test Indian keyword coverage during the trial before paying annually.
How this score works: the DevMixa score is research-based — we compare official pricing, features, documentation, support options, security and data policies, and public user feedback against other tools in the same category. It is not a hands-on test; tools we test ourselves are marked “Tested”.
What is Serpstat?
Serpstat began in 2013 as an internal tool inside the Netpeak agency in Odesa, and it still meters work the way an agency would: by searches per day, rows per report and monthly credit pools. This Serpstat SEO platform review and pricing guide covers what the four current tiers cost in dollars and approximate rupees, where the daily caps start to hurt, how the clustering tool behaves on a real list, and how it compares with Semrush and Ahrefs for Indian founders, freelancers and agencies.
Serpstat pricing in 2026: no Lite or Standard tier, just four plans
If you remember plans called Lite or Standard, they are not on the pricing page any more. Serpstat now sells Individual, Team, Team x2 and Agency. The headline numbers on the pricing page are annual-billing rates shown per month, with the page promising savings of up to 27% for paying yearly. Month-to-month billing costs more, and a two-year term costs less again. Prices are listed in US dollars only. The rupee figures below are approximate conversions at about ₹94.7 per dollar, not official INR prices.
| Plan | Annual billing, per month | Searches a day | Rows per website report | Users |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Individual | $50 (approx. ₹4,735) | 100 | 2,000 | 1 |
| Team | $100 (approx. ₹9,470) | 500 | 10,000 | 3 |
| Team x2 | $169 (approx. ₹16,004) | 1,000 | 20,000 | 6 |
| Agency | $410 (approx. ₹38,827) | 5,000 | 100,000 | 30 |
Month-to-month rates are not printed next to these figures. The one monthly number Serpstat states openly is on its free-trial page, which quotes Team at $129 a month once the trial ends. For the other three plans, open the pricing page and switch off the annual discount before you budget.
The gap between Individual and Team is bigger than the price suggests. Individual has no API, no domain batch analysis and no keyword lists, and it caps you at 5 projects for rank tracking and audits. Team removes the project cap, adds 25,000 tool credits instead of 5,000, and raises pages you can audit each month from 30,000 to 150,000. For a two-person shop, annual Team at roughly ₹9,470 a month is usually the plan that stops you bumping into walls.
Is there a Serpstat free plan? Limits of free access and the 7-day trial
No free tier appears on the current pricing page. What you get instead is a 7-day trial of Individual or Team. Card details are required, Serpstat takes a $1 verification charge that comes back within 5 to 30 minutes, and auto-renewal is switched on from the start, so the plan price is charged when the seven days end unless you cancel. Agency is not offered as a trial; its column carries only a Subscribe button.
A registered account without a subscription still opens a few doors. The help FAQ allows registered users one project and ten keywords in batch keyword analysis, and a paid plan that lapses drops back to what Serpstat calls a freemium version. That is enough to look at the interface, not enough to judge the data. Treat the trial as the real test and put a calendar reminder for day six.
Why Serpstat keeps telling you that you have hit a limit
Most complaints about Serpstat limiting queries come from four separate meters that people assume are one:
- Searches per day. Every domain, keyword or link lookup counts. Individual allows 100, which a consultant checking ten client sites with a few drill-downs each can burn before lunch.
- Rows per report. Individual shows up to 2,000 results per website report and 2,000 per backlink report. A large news or e-commerce domain has far more than that, so the table simply stops.
- Export rows per month. 50,000 on Individual and 250,000 on Team.
- Module credits. Site analysis, keyword research, backlinks, rank tracking, audits and the API each draw from their own pool, which resets at the start of each billing cycle. Unused credits do not roll over, and top-up packs cost more per unit than plan credits.
The Credits and Subscriptions page under Profile shows remaining balances for each module. Check it before a big export or audit, not after the tool refuses.
Running Serpstat keyword clustering on a real keyword list
Clustering is one of the better reasons to pick this tool. You create a project, choose search engine and country (city level is optional), paste or upload between 3 and 50,000 keywords as CSV or TXT, and pick two settings. Strength decides how many of the top 30 URLs two queries must share: 3 for weak, 8 for medium, 12 for strong. Cluster type is soft (broader groups) or hard (every keyword must meet the threshold). Results come with a connection strength score per keyword, a homogeneity score per group, and the competitor pages that rank most often for each one, which Serpstat calls the Metatop.
The cost is 5 credits per keyword, shared with text analysis and batch analysis. On Individual's 5,000 tool credits that is about 1,000 keywords a month; Team's 25,000 credits cover roughly 5,000. Changing strength or type later does not charge again, but adding keywords or switching country does. A sensible routine: run medium and soft first, export to XLSX, then rerun hard on the groups that look muddy. Keywords left unsorted are often the missing keywords worth a page of their own.
How much of India Serpstat can actually see
Serpstat's database statistics list a Google India base (code g_in) with about 73.6 million keywords and 12.5 million domains. The US base holds roughly 3.7 billion keywords, so Indian coverage is useful but much thinner, and long-tail queries mixing a city with a service or Hinglish phrasing may show no volume. The company says it holds data for more than 230 regional Google databases.
Is the data reliable? For relative judgements, mostly yes: which competitor is growing, which topic is bigger, which pages pull the most keywords. Absolute volumes and traffic are estimates from SERP sampling, so they will not match Google Search Console. Cross-check your top money terms against Keyword Planner and your own Search Console impressions before quoting numbers to a client.
Rank tracker, site audit and backlink analysis without the Agency bill
The everyday modules behave as you would expect from a mature suite. The rank tracker gives Individual 10,000 position checks a month and Team 50,000, which works out to roughly 1,600 keywords checked once a day on Team. Site audit crawls up to 5,000 pages per audit on Individual and 25,000 on Team. Backlink analysis covers backlinks, referring domains, anchors and external links, but the 2,000-row cap on Individual makes it a sampling tool rather than a link-cleanup tool.
Competitor research is where the daily searches go. You enter a rival domain, see its ranking keywords, top pages and competitors, and compare with yours. The ppc analysis side reports ad keywords and advertising competitors, handy for checking who bids on your brand. The wider kit also includes AI content tools, an LLM brand monitor, a Chrome extension, an MCP server for AI assistants and white-label reports, so the content marketing tools are broader than many expect at this price.
API access starts at Team, and every row costs a credit
Developers should note that Individual has no API. Team includes 200,000 API credits a month, Team x2 400,000 and Agency 2,000,000. The API uses JSON-RPC 2.0 over HTTP POST with one personal token per user. Each returned row costs a credit, every call costs at least one even when empty, a summary report costs 5, and a single request returns at most 60,000 rows. Rate limits are 1 request per second on both Team tiers and 10 on Agency, so bulk pulls for dashboards need queuing in your script. There is no sandbox either: test calls run on live data and spend real credits.
Serpstat vs Semrush, with Ahrefs as the third quote
Semrush's SEO plan lists at $139 a month (approx. ₹13,163) and Ahrefs Lite at $129 (approx. ₹12,216), with Ahrefs also selling a cut-down $29 Starter plan. Serpstat Team costs $100 a month for three users on annual billing, and its free-trial page quotes $129 a month after the trial.
- Pick Serpstat if you need clustering, batch analysis and API access on a mid-tier budget, and your markets are well covered by its regional bases.
- Pick Semrush if you want the widest set of extras (local SEO, content and traffic tools) and a free account with 10 reports a day for light checks.
- Pick Ahrefs if backlink audits drive most of your work. Its link index has the stronger reputation, and Ahrefs Free gives limited Site Explorer and Site Audit access for your own site.
Between Serpstat and Ahrefs the honest split is breadth per rupee versus link data depth. Serpstat gives more seats and tool credits for the money; Ahrefs gives more confidence when a link profile decides a client's fate.
Who holds your data: a Delaware company with an EU representative
The privacy policy names Promotions and Development Group Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware as the operator, with Netpeak Group Ltd. in Sofia as EU representative. It collects usage data, account details and partial card data, uses processors such as Stripe and PayPal, and says it never sells personal data. It lists GDPR rights including correction, erasure, restriction and getting your data in a machine-readable format. The current version is dated November 2023. The policy does not say where data is stored, which matters if a client contract requires a specific region.
Serpstat SEO platform review and pricing verdict for Indian teams
Serpstat earns its place for small agencies and in-house teams in India that want several seats, clustering and API access without paying Semrush or Ahrefs rates. The weak points are the thinner Indian keyword base, cramped Individual limits, card-only trials with auto-renewal, and USD-only billing. Solo bloggers checking one site a week will find it more than they need.
A practical first week: start the Team trial rather than Individual so you can test API and batch tools, add your own domain as a project and run a site audit, cluster one real keyword list of a few hundred terms, set up 100 tracked keywords in the rank tracker, and compare its India volumes for your top 20 terms with Search Console. If those numbers line up closely enough for your decisions, annual billing is where the plan pays off.

Serpstat FAQ
What is Serpstat?
Serpstat is a web-based SEO suite that began in 2013 inside the Netpeak agency in Odesa, Ukraine. It covers keyword research, competitor analysis, backlinks, rank tracking, site audits, keyword clustering, PPC research and an API. Its about page reports more than 1.1 million users.
How much does Serpstat cost?
On annual billing it works out to $50 a month for Individual, $100 for Team, $169 for Team x2 and $410 for Agency. Paying month to month costs more; the free-trial page quotes Team at $129 a month after the trial, and the pricing page shows the other monthly rates. Prices are in USD only, so annual Individual is approx. ₹4,735 a month at about ₹94.7 per dollar.
Is Serpstat free?
Not in a useful way. The pricing page lists no free plan, only a 7-day trial of Individual or Team that needs a card, takes a $1 check that is returned within 30 minutes and renews automatically. A registered free account gets very limited previews, such as one project and ten keywords for batch analysis.
How do you do keyword clustering in Serpstat?
Create a clustering project, choose the search engine and country, and upload 3 to 50,000 keywords as CSV or TXT or paste them. Pick a strength (3, 8 or 12 shared URLs in the top 30) and a soft or hard cluster type, then save to run it. It costs 5 credits per keyword and results export to XLSX or CSV.
Is Serpstat data reliable?
It is good for relative comparisons, such as which competitor or topic is bigger, but volumes and traffic are estimates. The Google India base holds about 73.6 million keywords against roughly 3.7 billion for the US, so Indian long-tail terms can be missing. Cross-check key numbers with Google Search Console and Keyword Planner.
Serpstat vs Ahrefs: which is better?
Ahrefs is the safer choice when backlink research is the core job, and its Lite plan starts at $129 a month. Serpstat gives more users, clustering and API credits for similar money, with Team at $100 a month on annual billing for three users. Pick by whether link depth or breadth per rupee matters more to you.
Does Serpstat have an India database?
Yes. Serpstat's database statistics list Google India (code g_in) with about 73.6 million keywords and 12.5 million domains. It is far smaller than the US database, so niche and Hinglish queries may show no data.
What are the best Serpstat alternatives?
Semrush (SEO plan at $139 a month) suits teams that want the widest toolkit, and Ahrefs (Lite at $129, Starter at $29) suits backlink-heavy work. Moz Pro, SE Ranking and Ubersuggest are worth comparing too, each with its own trade-off between price and data depth. Free tools like Google Search Console cover your own site's real data.
Why is Serpstat limiting my queries?
Your plan has several separate caps: daily searches (100 on Individual), rows per report (2,000 on Individual), monthly export rows, and per-module credits that reset each billing cycle without rollover. Check balances under Profile, then Credits and Subscriptions. Upgrading to Team or buying a top-up pack raises the relevant limit.
Who is Serpstat best for?
It fits small agencies, freelancers with several clients and in-house teams that want multiple seats, keyword clustering and API access at mid-range prices. Team covers three users and Agency covers 30. Solo bloggers with one site and teams focused mainly on backlink audits may be better served elsewhere.
