What is Semrush?
Semrush is one of the best-known SEO platforms and covers far more than search. It brings keyword research, technical site audits, rank tracking, backlink analysis, competitor traffic estimates, content tools, local SEO and advertising research into one dashboard.
Core SEO tools
The Keyword Magic Tool finds large keyword lists with volume, difficulty and intent. Site Audit crawls your website for technical problems such as broken links, redirect chains, duplicate content and Core Web Vitals issues. Position Tracking monitors daily rankings by country, city and device, which is useful for local businesses targeting specific Indian cities. Backlink tools show who links to you and your competitors, and Domain Overview gives a quick snapshot of any website's estimated organic and paid traffic.
Beyond SEO
Semrush also includes content marketing tools, an SEO writing assistant, social media and local listing management, and AI-focused features for tracking how brands appear in AI search answers. Many of these are sold as separate toolkits or add-ons, so the total cost depends on which parts you need.
Pricing considerations
Semrush is a premium product. Plans scale by the number of projects, tracked keywords and users, and extra users and toolkits cost more. There is a free account with limited daily requests and a free trial on paid plans. For agencies the depth often justifies the price; for a single small site it can be more than you need.
Who should use it
Choose Semrush if you manage SEO for several clients or need technical, content and competitor research in one place. Smaller users should compare it with lighter tools before committing.
