Our verdict

3.7out of 5

CCAvenue charges the same 2% plus GST as its big rivals and has no setup fee, but a ₹1,200 yearly software charge and a settlement cycle its own pages describe inconsistently make it less clean than Razorpay or Cashfree. Its case rests on 27-currency checkout, deep bank and EMI coverage, and invoice-based collection. Pick it for cross-border or EMI-heavy selling, and get your rate and payout cycle in writing.

What is CCAvenue?

Two percent plus GST is the number on CCAvenue's Standard plan for domestic cards, net banking, wallets and UPI, and it is the same headline figure Razorpay and PayU quote. So any honest CCAvenue payment gateway charges and review has to look at what sits around that 2%: a yearly software charge, higher slabs for Amex and foreign cards, a settlement cycle the pricing page never prints, and an onboarding process that still wants a stamped agreement. Figures below come from CCAvenue's own pricing page, FAQ and onboarding pages.

CCAvenue transaction charges India: the full rate card

CCAvenue now sells two plans. Standard is the default plan, with no setup fee and, in the company's words, no hidden charges. It is the regular plan rather than a launch offer. Custom is for high-volume businesses and brings negotiated rates, a dedicated account manager, white-label or reseller options and settlement schedules built to order. Online rates on Standard look like this, with 18% GST added to every line:

Payment methodPlatform fee + GST
Domestic credit and debit cards, net banking, wallets, UPI2.00%
Credit card on UPI (RuPay)2.15%
Credit card EMI2.00%
Corporate or commercial credit cards3.00%
American Express and Diners Club, including EMI3.00%
International credit and debit cards3.00%
Cardless EMI (ShopSe, InstaCred)3.50%
Multi-currency processing3.50%

Run the numbers on a ₹10,000 order. A domestic debit card costs ₹200 plus ₹36 GST, so ₹9,764 reaches your account. Pay the same bill with a US-issued Visa and the cut becomes ₹300 plus ₹54. Offline (POS) pricing is quoted on request. The pricing page adds that commercials may differ by merchant category.

Small charges that sit outside the 2%

There is no line called AMC. What CCAvenue bills instead is an Annual Software Upgradation Charge (ASUC) of ₹1,200 plus GST. It is waived for the first financial year from activation, then billed every 1 April, pro-rata if you joined after April.

Other fees apply only when you switch a feature on. Saving cards in CCAvenue Vault costs ₹1.25 per token action and ₹0.20 per cryptogram request. Recurring card mandates are ₹15 to create or modify, plus ₹1 each for validation and notification. WhatsApp alerts run at ₹0.30 a message and SMS at ₹0.25, while eNACH and UPI AutoPay are priced on request. Shopify merchants pay an extra 0.20% plus GST on every payment mode, which takes the effective domestic rate to 2.2%.

Where the 240-plus payment options show up at checkout

CCAvenue's company profile claims more than 240 payment options and real-time links with over 55 Indian banks. The gateway page splits that into 58+ net banking banks, 97+ debit cards, six credit card networks, 13 prepaid instruments, UPI and 15 bank EMI options. CCAvenue netbanking coverage has long been one of its real advantages, useful for B2B buyers paying from a current account. CCAvenue EMI on credit cards is priced like an ordinary card payment at 2%, while cardless EMI costs 3.5%.

The checkout is a hosted page you can brand, or an iFrame placed inside your own site, and it runs in 18 languages (8 Indian, 10 international). Dynamic routing sends each payment to a healthy bank gateway, and buyers get up to three attempts, on the same or another option, before an order fails. Fraud screening runs through F.R.I.S.K, which CCAvenue says weighs more than 150 variables per transaction, with velocity limits and blacklists that merchants control.

CCAvenue international payments in 27 currencies

With multi-currency processing on, a buyer in Dubai or London sees the price in dirhams or pounds and pays in that currency. The gateway page lists 27 currencies, the rupee among them. CCAvenue multi currency processing costs 3.5% plus GST. If you keep prices in rupees and simply accept foreign cards, CCAvenue international cards cost 3% plus GST, so showing local currency adds half a percentage point.

Two practical points from the FAQ. Some international card types need approval from the acquiring bank, so they may not be live on day one. The FAQ also suggests fixing a benchmark exchange rate for displayed prices. The India service is limited to websites owned by Indian entities. A business registered abroad has to look at CCAvenue's UAE, Saudi or US operations instead.

Getting paid: CCAvenue settlement time and why it slips

The Standard plan's pricing page says nothing about payout timing, and this is where CCAvenue's official material is least tidy. A 2020 announcement of Express Settlements described the default cycle then as T+2 or T+3 working days and offered same-day credit for an extra fee. The current FAQ, by contrast, talks about weekly remittances "or as per the terms in your agreement". Treat the merchant agreement as the final word, and get the CCAvenue settlement time written into it.

Late money usually traces back to one of a few causes. Payouts begin only after KYC is fully approved. The FAQ says ₹1,000 is kept back as a minimum balance. Bank holidays shift the cycle. A flagged order can be held until the risk team clears it, and chargebacks pull funds too: the FAQ asks merchants to respond within 5 days and says disputes can take 75 to 120 days to close.

Paperwork CCAvenue asks for before it activates you

Every applicant supplies the signatory's PAN, proof of the bank account, office address proof and financial proof (12 months of bank statements or two years of audited accounts). A sole proprietor adds one registration such as GST, Shop and Establishment or professional tax. Partnerships and LLPs add the deed and firm PAN; companies add the MoA, AoA, incorporation certificate, director list from the MCA site, company PAN and a board resolution. Trusts and societies send the deed, trustee list, PAN and a resolution.

Your website is reviewed as well. It must show a business description with prices, About Us, Contact Us, shipping and delivery terms, a refund and cancellation policy, and privacy or terms pages. The legal agreement must be franked for ₹600 or signed on ₹600 non-judicial stamp paper. Sign-ups that arrive between 9 am and 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, are evaluated within an hour, but going live still waits on underwriting, a legal check and submission to the nodal bank.

CCAvenue integration for WooCommerce without a stale plugin

WooCommerce appears on CCAvenue's official list of supported carts, next to Magento, OpenCart, PrestaShop, Drupal Commerce, Zen Cart, VirtueMart, Moodle, GiveWP and Elementor. The official kit is not distributed through wordpress.org. According to CCAvenue's onboarding page, the integration kit arrives with your auto-generated activation email.

Both CCAvenue plugins checked on wordpress.org are independent builds, and the newer one states it has no affiliation with CCAvenue. One older "integration kit" has not been updated in about ten years and has not been tested with recent WordPress releases, so avoid it. A newer third-party plugin (version 1.0.3, 70+ active installs) handles redirect and iFrame checkout, sandbox mode, Checkout Blocks and HPOS. Whichever CCAvenue plugin WooCommerce stores choose, setup asks for the same three credentials: Merchant ID, Access Code and Working Key. Test in sandbox, then place and refund one small live order before launch.

For custom builds, the publicly documented options are the hosted page, the iFrame, add-to-cart buttons built from HTML snippets and the cart plugins. Dynamic Event Notification posts transaction updates to a URL you register, and a Vault API handles saved cards. Public developer material for CCAvenue API integration is thinner than what Razorpay or Cashfree publish, so budget extra developer time.

Invoices, forms and the merchant app for businesses without a cart

CCAvenue invoicing creates itemised invoices in multiple currencies and sends them by email or SMS, with recurring and bulk options for coaching fees or retainers. CCAvenue Forms collects payments through a custom form. The features page does not sell a separately named link product, so the emailed or texted invoice is what does the job of CCAvenue payment links. The CCAvenue merchant dashboard shows hourly transactions, success ratio and the mix of payment options, and the merchant app on Android and iOS lets you track payments away from a desk.

CCAvenue vs Razorpay, with PayU as the third quote

The headline rate does not separate them. Razorpay's pricing page shows 2% plus GST with ₹0 setup and ₹0 AMC. PayU's domestic rate is reported at 2% plus GST, with 3% on Amex, Diners, EMI and international cards. Past that line, they differ:

  • Yearly cost: Razorpay lists no AMC. CCAvenue's ₹1,200 ASUC starts in your second financial year.
  • UPI: Razorpay cites a zero-MDR policy for standard UPI and RuPay debit but also mentions a platform fee, so cost depends on the merchant's agreement. CCAvenue's Standard row groups UPI with the 2% platform fee. By law, UPI payments up to ₹2,000 and RuPay debit stay free of MDR, while merchant UPI above ₹2,000 can carry up to 0.4% (capped at ₹300) from 15 Oct 2026, so ask how your account is billed.
  • Payout speed: Razorpay says T+1 is typical. CCAvenue's FAQ says weekly or per agreement (its 2020 release cited T+2 or T+3), and PayU's settlement guide puts cards and net banking on T+2.
  • Foreign money: CCAvenue publishes its 3% international and 3.5% multi-currency rates. Razorpay's pricing page does not list an international rate.
  • Developer feel: Razorpay's dashboard, docs and SDKs feel newer. CCAvenue wins on bank coverage, EMI and currencies.

If the lowest published domestic rate decides it, Cashfree lists 1.95% plus GST, 2.99% on international cards and a T+2 default, which makes it the cheapest of the four on paper.

Licences and security behind the gateway

CCAvenue was set up in 2001 and is now a brand of AvenuesAI Limited, the listed company known until 2026 as Infibeam Avenues. RBI's final online payment aggregator authorisation was announced in March 2024 after in-principle approval in October 2022; the certificate shown on CCAvenue's site is No. 251/2025. An offline PA approval for POS followed in November 2025. CCAvenue's company profile lists PCI DSS 3.2.1 compliance and ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification, and the gateway supports 3-D Secure on Visa, Mastercard, Amex, RuPay and JCB. The privacy policy covers what card and personal data is collected and lists who it is shared with (banks, processors, authorities, service providers), but it does not say where data is stored. CCAvenue does not appear to run a public status page.

CCAvenue payment gateway charges and review: who should sign up

Good fits: Indian companies selling abroad that want prices in the buyer's currency, sellers whose customers lean on EMI or net banking, schools and NGOs collecting fees through invoices and forms, and large merchants able to negotiate the Custom plan. Harder to justify: a small Shopify store (2.2% effective plus ASUC), a developer team that wants modern SDKs, or a business that needs next-day payouts as standard. Before signing, get three things in writing: your category's rate, your settlement cycle and how UPI is charged.

CCAvenue FAQ

What is CCAvenue?

CCAvenue is an Indian online payment gateway set up in 2001 and run today by AvenuesAI Limited, formerly Infibeam Avenues. It lets websites, apps and invoices accept cards, UPI, net banking, wallets and EMI. RBI has given it final authorisation as a payment aggregator.

What are CCAvenue payment gateway charges?

On the Standard plan, domestic cards, net banking, wallets and UPI cost 2% plus 18% GST per transaction. Amex, Diners, corporate cards and international cards cost 3%, while multi-currency processing and cardless EMI cost 3.5%. An Annual Software Upgradation Charge of ₹1,200 plus GST applies from the second financial year.

Does CCAvenue have a setup fee?

No. The Standard plan lists no setup fee as a regular feature of the plan, not as an offer. You do pay a ₹1,200 plus GST yearly software charge after the first financial year, and the merchant agreement must be franked for ₹600 or signed on ₹600 stamp paper.

How do I integrate CCAvenue in WooCommerce?

WooCommerce is on CCAvenue's supported cart list, and the integration kit comes with your activation email. Enter your Merchant ID, Access Code and Working Key in the WooCommerce payment settings, test in sandbox, then run one small live order and refund it. Avoid old plugins on wordpress.org that have not been updated for years.

Is CCAvenue safe?

Yes, by the usual measures. CCAvenue holds RBI's final payment aggregator authorisation, lists PCI DSS 3.2.1 compliance and ISO 27001 certification, and supports 3-D Secure. Its F.R.I.S.K system screens transactions against more than 150 risk variables.

How does CCAvenue compare with PayU and Razorpay?

All three charge about 2% plus GST on standard domestic payments. Razorpay lists no AMC and typically settles on T+1, with UPI charged as per the merchant's agreement, while PayU is reported at 3% for premium methods and settles cards on T+2. CCAvenue adds a ₹1,200 yearly charge but publishes 27-currency checkout and wide bank and EMI coverage.

What documents are required for a CCAvenue account?

Everyone submits the signatory's PAN, bank account proof, office address proof and 12 months of bank statements or two years of audited financials. Proprietors add a GST, Shop and Establishment or similar certificate, and companies add the MoA, AoA, incorporation certificate, director list, company PAN and a board resolution. Partnerships and trusts send their deed, PAN and a resolution.

What are the best CCAvenue alternatives?

Razorpay suits startups that want T+1 settlement, no yearly fee and modern developer tools. Cashfree publishes the lowest domestic rate of the big gateways at 1.95% plus GST, and PayU is strong on EMI and buy-now-pay-later. Compare written quotes for your business category before you switch.

Why is my CCAvenue settlement delayed?

Common causes are incomplete KYC, the ₹1,000 minimum balance CCAvenue's FAQ says it holds back, bank holidays, and orders flagged by the risk team. Chargebacks also hold funds until they are resolved. Your merchant agreement sets the actual cycle: the FAQ says weekly or as agreed, while a 2020 CCAvenue release described T+2 or T+3.

Who should use CCAvenue?

It fits Indian businesses selling to overseas buyers in their own currency, sellers who depend on EMI and net banking, and schools or NGOs collecting through invoices and forms. Small Shopify stores and developer-led startups wanting next-day payouts may find Razorpay or Cashfree simpler and cheaper.
